“I love it when you instigate affection.”
Oh.
I felt heat spread through my body. Russell wrapped his arm around my shoulders and tugged me closer. He kissed my forehead, and when my eyes connected with his, he continued.
“You know why, Ryan?”
I shook my head.
“I love it when you instigate affection because it means you are happy, relaxed, and comfortable.”
“I’m comfortable with you, Russell.”
“I know you are, my boy. But there are certain times when you completely let go and allow yourself to be happy and at ease. It’s delightful, and I’m grateful to be on the receiving end.”
Russell picked up his iPad again but kept his arm wrapped around my shoulders. He pressed day seven on the screen.
“We check out and head to my parents’. It’s about an eight-hour drive to Indianapolis, and then my parents’ place is about a half hour from there.”
“That will be the day I have nervous farts in the car. I’ll apologize upfront for them because I know they’ll be anything but delightful.”
Russell put his hand on my stomach and began to rub in a gentle circle.
“I’ve been around your nervous farts before. They have no bearing on how much I love you.” He leaned in to kiss me. “I know you’re nervous, Ryan. My parents will adore you. You have a charming personality and all the charisma in the world.”
I was glad he thought so. Now I just needed his family to see it too.
