“I don’t care if you’re angry that I brought you here. Because at the end of the day, I’m walking out of here with you. You are everything to me. I risk nothing where you’re concerned.”
He gave me a faint smile and leaned his head back on the pillow. Ryan was quiet and I didn’t say too much to him because I wanted him to relax and be calm. After ten minutes had passed he began talking to me.
“Well, I guess it’ll be nice to find out what the fuck is causing my hand to fall asleep.”
“Yes, it’ll be good, indeed. Why didn’t you tell me, Ryan?”
His bare shoulders shrugged and began to reach for the blanket next to his thigh. I stood and pulled it up over his chest.
“Cold?” I asked.
He nodded. I knew it was a combination of things causing the chill. The dye was the main thing, but he was also chilled over the adrenaline. I gently gave his leg a pat over the blanket.
“It’ll be alright, Ryan. They’ll find out what’s going on,” I assured him.
I decided that now wasn’t the time to press him on why he hadn’t told me about the hand being numb. He needed to relax and not worry.
“Do you think that they think I’m weird?” Ryan looked at me with concerned, heavy eyes. “Because of my back,” he expanded.
“No, I don’t. When they see certain things that might be red flags to them, they are required by law to ask. Notice he didn’t ask you about your activities, or our dynamic. He just needed to hear from you that you were safe and had consented,” I tried to remind him of the actual facts of the conversation so that his mind didn’t start taking off and overthinking.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right. They probably see a lot of that.”
“I’m sorry I hadn’t prepared you that those questions were likely to come up. I had spaced it in my haste to get you here.”
“You’d miss me,” he said as he smiled.
“I’d more than miss you, Ryan.”
He sometimes seemed to have no clue how much he meant to me. Considering where he came from, being desired by anyone was such a difficult concept for him to grasp and truly understand.
“Do you think my insurance will cover the tests?” he asked me.
I didn’t give a fuck over what was or wasn’t covered. I thought if I told him that I would handle the costs, that would upset him more and that heart monitor of his would start to go through the roof.
“Try not to focus on anything but relaxing, Ryan.”
Soon the doctor unhooked Ryan from the machine and wheeled him away from me. I walked a little way and watched him go down the hall before I returned to the stool. I pulled my phone out to text Nick and let him know where I was. Since I had some time to kill before Ryan was done, I opened up my emails to see if anything needed tending to for work. Ryan was my priority and I wouldn’t be working for a few days.
“Jesus,” I said under my breath when I discovered four new emails from Claire.
Russell,
You are a Top, regardless of what you think the broken boy has made you. Don’t give up your dreams for a bottom that can’t even kneel for you. You deserve to be appreciated, and respected. The broken boy does nothing for you that you deserve.
XOXO,
Claire
Russell,
I can’t believe you’re ignoring me. Especially forthat. Do you look down into his eyes the way you used to look into mine? You know, that look you would get as I had a mouth full of your cock. Or that look in your eyes as your cum spilled down my chin. Do you look at him like that? Oh wait, that’s right…the broken boy WON’T do that for you. How does that make you feel? You must be very disappointed. I can fix that for you. Leonard can too.
XOXO,
Claire
Russell,
