There better be alcohol.
Grayson
I would never invite you over without it.
Emmett
I hope you’re ready for an inquisition, Holt.
Holt
I don’t think anything could prepare me for Grayson’s questions.
Grayson
You guys know me so well.
Knox! Bring your famouscookies, please.
Knox
No.
Grayson
Why?????
Knox
I don’t have any dough made.
Emmett
That’s a lie. You always have dough in your freezer.
Knox
Fine.
Grayson changed the name of the group to The Three Best Friends Anyone Could Have
CHAPTER 8
Holt
Grayson’s text couldn’t have come at a better time.
The guys might have teased me about preparing for an inquisition, but that’s exactly what I need.
Gia has been staying at my house for a week now, and I think I’m about to lose my mind. We both tried to find another place for her to stay, and not a single hotel, B&B, inn, or the like has a vacancy until Sunday, when the Ice Festival is over.
I somehow have to survive two more days with the walking wet dream that is Gia Miller.
And tonight was the straw that almost broke the camel’s back. The girls had been begging to have a sleepover with Mom and Dad, and my parents were ecstatic to have them, but that left me and Gia alone on a Friday night. I made it through an excruciating dinner, watching her plump lips kiss a glass of wine over and over again, and then I got Grayson’s text.
I bolted as soon as I could, making an ass out of myself, and Gia definitely noticed. She had a little smirk on her face while I stumbled through explaining where I was going. Iwanted to kiss it right off her face, so I turned tail and ran to Grayson’s instead.
I walk right into his small farmhouse without knocking. We grew up together and ran the bull riding circuit with Knox when we were young. Knox was the only one of us who was good enough to get sponsorships, but we had a blast doing it. Emmett came along after we’d all moved back home. After he got out of the army, he moved here to be closer to his sister, Emily, and we’ve been good friends ever since.
