“Please don't tell me I missed watching you fly a helicopter.”
He smiles at me; his smirk is from a toothpaste commercial.
“You did sleepy head. I did very well, actually. I think I'm going to take lessons when we get home.” He seems really excited.
“Can we have a break first before I get stressed out again? I don't want to think about a machine carrying you through the air,” his eyes switch from happy to serious.
“I don't want you to feel stress ever again, you deserve a life full of peace.”
My hand runs through his hair while I fantasize about a normal life with Bruno by my side, he leans his face on my hand, closing his eyes for just a moment.
“When do we get out of here?” I ask, although I don't know where we are.
“As soon as you can walk.”
Fuck, I can't imagine walking anytime soon.
“No Bruno, we can't wait, we have to leave as soon as possible...” I try to stand up by supporting my elbows first and then my hands, but Bruno throws me back again.
“No ma'am, not a chance.”
“But Bruno—”
“Rest, while I think about what our next move will be.”
“What do you have in mind?”
“Once we're at the border, we'll go straight to Italy, where my contacts are waiting for us with a plane to go home.”
Why does everyone have contacts in Europe?
“The problem is getting to the border, then?”
He nods.
The Frenchman is the first person who comes to my mind, but he was gone, the second person...
“Rage...” I say out loud. Bruno's face turns with such hate that reminds me of my time with The Professor. “He can help us.”
“No, I can fix it, I just need to pull some strings, don’t worry.”
“Don't be like that, he can help us, there's a Spanish girl a few hours from the city, she might help us to—”
“I said no,” he stops me abruptly. “Now sleep, when you wake up I'll have it sorted out, you’ll see.” He gives me a soft kiss on the lips and walks away from me, disappearing from the field of my eyes.
That was a strange moment.
My body is still tense after that switch of character, I guess I forgot the different masks Bruno wears.
