“The house is not close by if that's what you were thinking,” Amira answers before I can utter a word, “with the event happening today, they called everyone in to pull double shifts.”
“That’s in our favor. We need to borrow some time and find Bruno. He’ll come up with a plan to get us out of here.” Sarah strokes her chin. “Any ideas? We need a fucking distraction so we can run the other way when they are not looking.”
The three of us are silent, thinking very hard about how to get out of this place.
After a few seconds later, Sarah starts talking to herself.
“What would he do in my place? Fuck, where's that microphone when I need it! You broke it Sarah, remember? What an idiot...think, think.”
Who's she talking to?
Amira looks at me with concern and I must admit, I'm worried too.
She stops pacing, “Of course! Why didn't I think of that before!” Sarah turns around and confronts us. “Fire, of course! Dante! Fire!”
“Fire?”
“Yes! We must burn down this mansion. We kill two birds with one stone, create a diversion and make the body disappear!”
I check on Amira; to see how she reacts to Sarah's lack of delicacy. Wasim is not Amira’s favorite, but he is her bother, was.
“Oh, I'm sorry,” she quickly apologizes.
“Don't worry about it.” Amira replies, she's as much a victim of her brother as I am. “I think it could work. The cameras are going to record us anyway, but if you think that man with you can help us escape, before they find us, then I think we have a chance.”
“Oh, my friend,” Sarah places her hand over Amira’s shower, “you don't know the things Bruno is capable of for his brother.”
A strange warm breeze blows through my body, something I only felt when talking to Amira.
Someone else cares about you.
Someone else loves you.
I thought two things were impossible in my world.
One of them was someone else looking out for me, the other was escaping this hell hole.
Maybe there is a chance after all.
