Bruno walks holding Sarah’s hand; they both have a lot of tiredness in their eyes, but Sarah has a particular yellowish color in her face. He smiles at me at first, but his hawkish eyes travel straight to my vest, changing his temper completely.
He lets go of her and starts taking slow steps towards me.
“What the fuck is that?” disgust is all over his face, he takes another step closer to me.
The wood on the floor cracks with every movement he takes.
“I'm going to repeat myself one more time, what the fuck is that?”
The room is completely silent; Sarah looks at me in panic. She understands how serious the situation is; the tension is so excessive that I think I'm going to start running in the opposite direction.
But I don't.
“Exactly what it looks like,” I say defiantly. “I came here to tell you the news and to see my cousin.”
Bruno takes a step closer.
“Bruno...” She warns him, but his eyes don't move away from my vest.
“Quiet Snow White, this is something that—”
Out of nowhere, Bruno takes me from the vest and hits me against the nearest wall, holding me from the flaps tightly; my head hits very hard.
Okay, this is fucking excessive.
I fight back, pushing him away from my personal space.
“Listen to me, goddamn it!” I shout.
“Speak up then!”
His fists are clenched, he's holding a lot of violence in, and that makes me fucking nervous. If we add the people who are watching us to the mix, it's all a fucking drama.
I look at Dante and his friend, I see how my cousin is standing next to her in a protective way; she is watching us in fear from behind his shoulder. Dante understands my stare, so he slowly walks away with that woman, away from what is about to happen.
My next victim is Sarah.
“No way, I'm not moving.”
“Hey, it's okay, as long as you stay out of it.”
“SPEAK UP.” Shouts Bruno again.
I see his nostrils fully dilated, his chest rising and falling, and his jaw contracting.
“Hey! I was expecting a reaction, but damn it man, this is too much!”
His face stays still.
I take a breath and I start. “Look, you left, okay? For two fucking years, you expected everything to stay the same. You want time to wait for you? No! I was lonely as fuck, I'd been fucking tortured, remember? I needed you! And I understand you had to leave, but you left broken people behind!”
I scream, pointing at Sarah.
Bruno turns around and analyses her, but she immediately looks away.
“Yes, you left us all waiting for you! I had to move on as she should too, but she's so damn stubborn! You don't have a fucking right to be angry, Bruno. Just like you can't be angry with her if she'd moved on with her life!”
He looks at me closely, listening to my words, letting me get it off my chest.
