“Perhaps…” Keled hisses. “Everything comes at a price, you know.”
“Precisely,” I affirm.
“I’m sure by now you are aware that we have been asking questions about your past and present.” He then pauses for a second, waiting for a reaction on my side, any emotion. He gets nothing.
I just nod.
“I’m still unclear on where the money came from,” he insists.
“For me and my business partners, privacy is paramount, and I take that to heart. A man of your resources being unable to find enough to feel satisfied is a testament to that. Although, I understand how you feel, completely. I wouldn’t dare do business with anyone before running a background check on them until I’m pleased with the findings.” I pull a brown envelope from my inside pocket. I leave it on the table and slide it across. “In there you will find everything you need to attain that tranquility.”
Keled leans forward, grabs the envelope, and opens it. He reads through it in a matter of minutes.
“Impressive portfolio, but there’s one more thing that’s bugging me now.”
This fucker…
“What would that be?” I ask with a smile.
“How a man of your wealth, contacts and resources doesn’t have already what you are looking to procure from us?”
Shit! Is he on to me?
I knew this could happen. People who move in these circles tend to have sex slaves. Not having at least one makes you look like an amateur, and Miles Cox is no amateur.
“I do but, people who are disobedient get punished. Don’t worry, one way or the other, she will learn,” I say, laughing. I try to show him I am in control. Like I have a pet that needs more training.
“I understand. Why are you in the market for another one then?”
I sigh, trying to show that I’m about to be honest and open about something really personal. “As one gets older, one tends to get attached to things. We’re humans, after all, and we have needs.” I chuckle then add, “After considering it for a while, I finally made my mind and decided to get another one that would serve other purposes. Different purposes to put it simply.” I analyze his eyes. He knows what I’m talking about, because he has the same problem. Interesting.
“You are quite right, Mr. Cox.” He giggles.
Piece of shit.
“I’m hoping you can help me with this.”
“Don’t worry, Mr. Cox. We take pride on having everything anyone could ever need. Rest assured, you will leave Saudi Arabia with thatthingyou are looking for. Whatever it is.”
Usingthingto describe human beings, it’s fucking disgusting.
Keled reaches for his pocket, pulls out a business card, and hands it over to me. “I hope to see you there, Mr. Cox.”
“You will. Thank you for your time,” I reply as we shake hands. I can’t even touch this motherfucker without feeling sick.
As he is leaving, he stops, and without turning back, he says. “Please do bring thethingyou are attached to with you. I’m dying to meet her.” Then he finally leaves.
Oh shit.
Now I need to find someone to play the role.
I look at the card, printed on it are the date, time and place of the event.
Dante, I’m close.
