What am I doing? Oh that’s right, risking my life for Bruno, just like I promised to.
“Okay, let’s go,” Viking finally says, grabbing my wrist.
He starts to walk, forcing me to follow him. Jonathan sees our exchange and tries to stop his cousin. I dig in my heels and stop in my tracks, bringing Viking to a halt. He looks back at me.
“Don’t,” I tell Viking, holding up my other hand to stop Jonathan. “I can walk.”
Viking licks his lower lip, a hint of anger on his face.
“Then walk!”
“No fucking way,” Jonathan snaps and quickly grabs my arm.
“Hey!” Viking whistles and nods while looking at Jonathan.
In that moment, two bikers from the crowd grab him, and he is forced to release me.
We follow a white hallway, full of red doors. Every door has a name on it, and it’s like a quiet, clean version of the cell block where I was held captive for years.
Viking stops and turns around, pushing me against the wall on my left.
“You are so full of shit,” he barks, right in my face, like a wild animal trying to smell its prey’s fear. He then grabs the chain holding my dog tags, adding accusingly, “You’re in the fucking army.”
“It’s easy to understand. I spoke the truth back there. I’m not looking for trouble,” I explain.
Viking smirks. “Do you have any guns on you?”
“No, I came unarmed.”
“Oh, did you now? I’ll have to check that for myself.”
Fucker.
“Go ahead.” I step forward, and he starts to frisk me, slowly and intrusively.
Perv.
“A big girl like you should know that this is no place for women,” he says, laughing.
“A big girl like me knows how to deal with a prince like you.” I shove him away. “Touch me like that again, and I will pull your balls off with a pair of pliers.”
He takes a few steps back grabbing his balls.
“I see a little fighter in you. I like that. Stay here. If he wants to see you, he will see you. But in there? You are on your own.”
“Fine.” I cross my arms. This is serious.
“Only a mad person would want to be alone with him.”Oh boy, you don’t know who you are talking to.
“I can live with that,” I reply.
Viking turns his back on me and goes on. My instincts are telling me that the last door is the one I’m looking for, that is the place where I might find my answers.
“Hey prince, one more thing…” I yell, forcing him to stop and look at me. He is waiting for the rest of my message. “Tell himThe Professorsent me.”
Vik nods then turns around to knock on the door twice.
“Come on in,” someone say from the other side calls faintly.
