“You are.” I drop a kiss on her lips and lick at her mouth. She opens for me, so I sweep my tongue inside to taste all of her, getting lost in her as I withdraw from her body and slide to the side. She follows me as we pant, out of breath.

Finally, lying in the silent morning, we cuddle and enjoy that we’re together, when I feel Cassie’s breathing even out and know she’s asleep.

Staring down at her, I never thought I’d experience this moment. As kids, we first teased each other. Cassie always chased me around the school playground, and for a long time, I didn’t like her. Then one day, she plopped a kiss on me, and everything changed.

I wanted forever with my Cassie-bell.

It wasn’t until middle school that I realized my attraction had grown into something more. Then, in high school, I knew I was in love with her. My infatuation with constantly being in her space grew into an obsession.

Joining the Army had always been a dream, and when Cassie said she’d wait for me, I made the same promise. For years, we wrote back and forth. I’d visit her every time I was home, and she would send me thoughtful care packages that made me love her even more.

When the explosion occurred, I fucked everything up. I nearly lost her. Now, I’ll do everything in my power to keep her. My eyes drift down to her belly. I really hope she’s pregnant, because there would be nothing more magical than another one of her running around.

Kissing her temple, I slide from bed, grab a quick shower, then go to the kitchen after writing a naughty note, leaving it on my pillow so she doesn’t awaken, fearing that I’m gone.

After rifling through her cupboards and getting coffee going, I look in her fridge for the rest of the waffle ingredients, then notice a waffle iron on her counter. Cassie is the biggest lover of breakfast food I’ve ever met.

Also spotting some cooked bacon in the fridge, I get it lined up in the air fryer to warm up once the waffles are closer to being done. Hoping Cassie still likes her eggs sunny-side up with tabasco sauce, I set the skillet on the stove top to heat up before making the waffle batter.

Once everything’s started, I lay out the place settings at the breakfast nook in the corner of the kitchen. It’s surrounded by picture windows, overlooking her garden in the backyard and a park beyond her fenceline. I can picture her sitting here for hours as she grades work from her students, while our kids eat the breakfast I make for everyone on a Saturday morning.

Our future plays out like a movie reel the longer I work in her space. The waffle timer grabs my attention, so I remove them before cracking eggs into a pan and starting the bacon in the air fryer.

As I’m plating the food, the woman in question shuffles down the stairs. Placing our dishes and fresh coffee on the table, I turn to see her in a white silk nightgown that just brushes the top of her thighs, and I nearly swallow my tongue.

“I got your note.” She waves the paper like she’s surrendering to me.

“I made you breakfast.”

Her bright green eyes sparkle with excitement as she comes closer, pressing into my body and offering me her lips.

I drape a hand around her waist and tug her in. Gripping one leg, I pull it up my body to rest on my hip, while the other braces her spine as I dip her back, her long hair cascading behind her like a beautiful waterfall.

Plunging my tongue into her mouth, we share an erotically wet kiss that engorges my dick, pressing it against my sweats, while her fingers plunge into my hair, and the note gracefully glides to the floor at my feet.

Her whimper while rubbing herself against me makes me want to sayfuck breakfastand take her back to bed. But we need time to get to know each other again first, so I start to slow down the kiss and pull back.

“You are magnificent in the mornings,” I say, sucking her bottom lip as I bring her back up to stand on both feet. Her hands scrub up and down my bare chest, tracing the scars I plan to tell her about.

“I like waking up like this. You in my bed, in my kitchen. Kisses that make me wet and want to go back to bed.” Not missing her coy look, I silently vow to get between her legs again this afternoon.

Guiding her into a seat, I sit in the one across from her so I’m not tempted to put her on the table and eat her for breakfast instead of the spread I crafted.

“This smells divine.” Her eyes close as she lowers her head to inhale the aromas.

“Good, I plan to feed you a hell of a lot more in the future, too.” Waiting until she takes the first bite, her moan reminds me of when I was balls deep inside her this morning.

“The future,” she finally says, keeping a keen eye on my face. “I know we sort of jumped into yesterday, and things happened at warp speed, but you’re going to stay?”

Her vulnerability kills me. “I’m retired from the Army, Cassie. You’re my home. You have been since I was seven, and you dropped that kiss on me.” She smiles radiantly. “The only thing I need to know is if you’ll marry me.”

Her eyes widen as her fork drops, and I pull out a princess-cut diamond ring in the rose gold band she’s always loved, slipping it onto her finger.

“Yes,” she wheezes out, eyes watering. “Yes, I’ll marry you!” Jumping up, she slides into my lap, breakfast forgotten, and peppers kisses all over my face.
