I love you.

He didn’t know if he said the words aloud.

He knew he wasn’t letting Autumn Taylor out of his life.

As he orgasmed, he knew another thing for sure. Autumn was his.

He would kill anyone who tried to take her from him.

Chapter 17

She smiled and blinked seeing Nico’s features come into view. His intense gaze captured hers, and he leaned down and kissed her awake.

Nico hummed a tune she remembered him singing last night. She brought her hand up and cradled the side of his face. Nico turned his face and kissed the inside of her palm without breaking eye contact.

“Buongiorno, mia cara.”

“Good morning.” Stretching and wincing, her muscles were tight from not moving them before.

Nico moved away and pulled the curtain aside. Autumn fluttered her eyelashes against the bright sky. Squinting, she looked out again to see a balcony attached to the bedroom.

She leaned on her elbows and watched Nico put on another suit jacket.

“Where are you going so early?” Autumn kept the sheet wrapped around her as she sat up in bed. One hand went through her hair and felt the tangles around her shoulders.

“Back to New York,” he grunted, buttoning his cuff links. He looked at his watch as if answering her question. “It’s almost nine.”

“Let me…” she hissed as the muscles in her legs protested. “Dammit.”

Nico chuckled and went over to the bed. He pulled the sheet off and picked her up. At her squeak, he kissed her full on the mouth. “I’ve seen everything you have, Autumn. No need to be bashful.”

“Yeah, well, I’m not used to a man seeing me in the full light of day.”

Nico walked to the bathroom. Autumn smelled the scented body wash and noticed steam coming from the overly large claw-footed bathtub. “Get used to it,mia cara.”

As he put her in the warm water, Autumn leaned back against the headrest. “This feels so good. I could live like this the rest of my life.”

In answer, Nico kissed a line down her neck. One of his hands smoothed down her side and reached for her breast. His fingers tweaked a nipple until it pebbled beneath his touch.

Autumn’s back arched at his touch. “I thought you had to go?”

“I do,” he took his hand from the water and wiped it on a towel next to the tub. “I can’t resist a well-sated woman.”

Autumn smirked. Her lips straightened as she came down from her euphoric, sex-crazed high. “I have to go back to New York at some point, Nico. I have a killer to find and a job to get back to.”

Not exactly, she amended to herself. At least not the Forget Me Not Killer case.

“Staying here for a couple of days will not be the end of the world.” Nico leaned against the wall next to the door with his arms crossed as he looked back at her.

Autumn raised her eyebrow. “You’re going back.”

“I have business to attend.” he stood and smoothed a hand over his well-mannered hair. “My situation is different.”

With narrowed eyes, Autumn brought her head up from the headrest. “What kind of business?”

“Nothing you need to worry yourself about.” He straightened his tie in the bathroom mirror. “I’m an attorney, remember?”
