Fortunately, I seem to be the only one worrying about it, because the guys are acting completely normal with me.
As usual, it’s just me who is overthinking everything.
“Guess where the next sale is,” River asks me excitedly as soon as my ass hits the seat.
I raise my eyebrow slightly and reply, “Erm, Cuba?”
River stops bouncing and looks at me like I’ve sprouted an extra head, “Cuba?”
I nod and take the plate that Doc’s offering me, piled high with four sandwiches and chips, “Thank you.” Turning back to River, I say, “Yeah, Cuba. I was trying to think of somewhere that would make you this excited to go, and Cuba was the first place that popped into my head. It’s a beautiful country.”
River’s confusion clears from his expression, even though the others still look reasonably confused, and he nods, “Right, okay, that makes more sense.”
“It does?” Griff asks, with a slightly confused smile.
River nods, “It does to me.”
I’ve just taken a huge bite of my sandwich, so when River doesn’t say anything else, I simply stare at him with a raised eyebrow and hope that he gets the message.
When he just grins back at me, Doc asks, “So, where are the next sales taking place?”
River’s eyes widen, and he starts bouncing in his seat again with excitement, but before he can answer, Griff does.
“It’s here in Ireland,” he says, still sounding shocked by the information himself.
“I wanted to tell them,” River pouts slightly.
Griff smirks, “You should have told them then.”
“Fuck you,” River retorts, sticking his middle finger up at Griff and unable to hide his smile.
His reaction makes me laugh. I love the way the guys mess with each other.
I finish the bite of the sandwich I have in my mouth and then, when my mind isn’t focused on the awesome sandwich, I actually hear what Griff has just said, I ask, “Wait, it’s here in Ireland?”
My brain does that a lot. I hear what someone has said a few moments after they’ve actually said it. Sometimes I even end up asking them to repeat what they have said because I didn’t hear them, and then finishing their sentence when they do explain again.
It usually ends up with me getting some really odd looks, and people not talking to me again.
Focus.
The guys all nod and confirm that I did, in fact, hear what I thought I did, and the sales are in Ireland.
“No fucking way,” Doc replies, sounding as shocked as I’m feeling.
“Yeah, that pretty much sums up our reaction,” Ransom agrees.
Raiden nods, “It’s a pretty big fucking coincidence.”
“No shit,” I reply, still trying to wrap my head around the fact that the next location in the wolf sales just so happens to be here.
In Ireland.
Where we are.
What are the fucking chances?
“We were wondering how you wanted to handle it? and whether you still wanted another team to take the lead, since, according to Navy we have a short window to find Pete,” Evander asks me, although from the look on his face, he already knows what the answer is going to be.
