His mouth grew into a grin. “Yes?”

Emily nodded eagerly as her brain started functioning again. “Yes, I’ll marry you!”

He was off his feet in a flash and embraced her in a tight hug. She squealed as her feet came off the ground and he spun her around, happily kissing all over her face. “Thank you, thank you, thank you…”

She giggled at his display of such boyish charms. “Put me down or you’re not gonna have a wife again because you’ll have already broken her.”

“Sorry,” he replied sheepishly before setting her back on both feet. “I’m just so happy.”

“So am I,” she agreed easily, her eyes exuding a kaleidoscope of passion as she cupped his face in her hands. “I love you, Nicolas.”

Emily gently leaned in and gave him a soft kiss on his lips. As she went to pull away while taking a shaky, shallow breath, affected by just the feel of him, Nicolas was finally able to get ahold of himself.

His hand firmly held the back of Emily’s head and brought her into a passionate kiss. Her hands worked their way around his body nimbly, feeling each muscle of his physique.

As they pulled apart, both were gasping for air while reopening their eyes, staring deeply.

His were full of conviction and love, while hers were full of serenity and adoration. He removed the ring from the box and then took her hand in his to slip it on.

It fit perfectly.

Nicolas delivered a peck onto her knuckles as she stared at it, eyes twinkling. “I love you more,” he replied to her earlier admission while holding her gaze. “Always.”

It had been a blissful blur to the hotel. Neither of them could focus with the palpable tension which had formed the moment they’d left the theater.

The hotel they were staying at was modern with classic French furnishing. They were escorted by a manager who greeted Nicolas by the front doors.

“Mr. Re, it’s our utmost pleasure to welcome you. We’re confident that our establishment offers the facilities to make your stay with this young lady truly memorable.” The middle-aged man gestured toward the front desk, where a female receptionist looked at them expectantly. “Your assistant has already checked in and your luggage is in your suite.”

David strode over to Nicolas handing him the key card.

“Thank you,” Nicolas said.

He wrapped his arm around Emily and guided her to the elevator. She felt the sparks his touch brought. It was silly of her to still be so affected by him doing the bare minimum. Even so, her heart couldn’t function properly when he was holding her.

Moreover, it was torture when the two of them entered the enclosed space to go up to their floor and he still hadn’t let her go.

Overwhelmed by a thousand emotions, Emily folded her arms to break his hold and shuffled away from him.

He looked at her oddly. “Is everything okay?”

She cleared her throat as the temperature in the elevator rose drastically at his voice. “I-I’m fine. Just a little hot.”

Nicolas arched a brow at her and then shifted in her direction, eyes narrowing. “Nice ring by the way.”

She looked down, catching the way the diamond hit the light. Her grin couldn’t be contained.

He looked satisfied that his distraction had worked.

“Thanks, I got it from this super handsome man tonight.”

Nicolas smirked. “Oh yeah? Should I be jealous?”

Her eyes sparkled. “Depends on whether you’re willing to share.”

“You know I’m fucking not,” he snapped, stepping closer. “Matter of fact, I’d like to meet the guy.”
