“Is it too late to switch bodyguards with Elsa?”

The word no, is out of my mouth before I even have time to think. I guess I’ve made my decision, I’d rather have Jack as my bodyguard, still thinking he spent the night with Ember instead of me, than have him as Ember’s bodyguard. I’m surprised that everyone else in the room also says no to Ember’s question.

“Sorry, Ember, but the plan is already in motion. Elsa and Jack will head to Cupid City, and you and Trace will head to Valor Springs.” Father clasps his hands on his desk. “We need to continue promoting the latest collection, Frozen Flame. You’ll both be expected to attend public events in each city—even you, Elsa.” I can’t help the smile that crosses my face at my father’s words. I finally get to attend public events. “Your bodyguards will act as your escorts while you attend those events.”

“Our escorts?” Oh, no, I know that tone in Ember’s voice. She’s trying to bait our parents.

“Stop that, Ember. You know what your father meant. Don’t be so vulgar. I’m sure that if you need some sexual relief, you can find one of the local men, as long as they can keep their mouth shut about the arrangement.” Our mother sneers, as if it weren’t her idea for Ember to act the way she does in public. I need to say something to help smooth things over.

“Ember isn’t like that. She doesn’t sleep around.” I can’t take my eyes off Jack. Even if he isn’t aware I’m the one he spent the night with, I don’t want him to think badly of the real Ember, even though he was the one who took my virginity—if and when he finally finds out the truth.

“It doesn’t matter.” My father waves his hand, dismissing the rest of the conversation. “You girls will behave and do what’s best for the family company. Jack and Trace will handle any threat that arises. I want this all handled before the special edition Frozen Flame necklace’s Valentine’s Day release. Now go to your rooms and pack. You leave in one hour.”

One hour. I need to talk to Ember before we leave and tell her about Jack.

“Can I have a few minutes alone with Ember before we leave?”

With a sigh, our father gives in. “You have ten minutes to discuss whatever you think is so important. You’ll still be able to call and text each other, just under the supervision of your bodyguards.”

Our mother and father leave the room first, while Jack and Trace hang back, as if they don’t trust us to be alone. Finally, they reluctantly leave the room, but I’m sure they’re right outside the closed door waiting for us to try to escape.

“I’m so sorry, Ember. Last night, I went out and met a guy. I pretended to be you and gave him your name.” I turn in my chair to face her, my eyes darting toward the closed door.

“Good for you. It’s about time you went out and had some fun.”

“You don’t understand. The guy I was with last night was Jack. I didn’t know who he was, and I’m sure he didn’t know who I was, but now he thinks you’re me.” I grab her hand, needing her to understand what I’m telling her.

“I’m not mad, Elsa.” She pulls her hand from mine, a confused look crossing her face. “It’s not like you slept with him or anything.” I hesitate, my skin growing clammy. “You did. You slept with him.”

“Yes, but don’t be mad. Besides, it’s not like he even cares about last night, since he hasn’t even tried to talk to me—well, you, actually. Some virgin he claimed to be.” I mutter the last part, still trying to figure out why he would lie about being a virgin.

Was it a line he uses to get women into bed?

Am I just one of a long line of women he says that to?

“He didn’t force himself on you, did he?” The look on Ember’s face lets me know that she will kick his ass if he did.

“No.” I can’t help the slight smile tugging at the corner of my mouth. “He was perfect, it was everything I could have ever hoped for.” And so much more. If only I hadn’t lied to him.

“Do you want a relationship with him?” Ember’s question catches me off guard. But then the answer comes through loud and clear.

“Of course I do.”

“Then you have two choices. You can tell him the truth right now, or you can let him get to know you better and then confess everything to him.”

“I’m not ready to confess everything.” I lower my gaze to the floor. I’m not ready to tell Jack the truth.

What if he gets so mad that he never wants to talk to me again?

No, for now I’m going to pretend that I have no idea that anything happened between him and “Ember.”

“Alright, but at least let me help you pack. You can borrow some of my clothes. I think I might even have some new bra and panty sets.”

The thought of wearing sexy underwear for Jack makes my thighs clench, remembering how he ripped my soaked panties off and devoured my pussy like he was starving, and he was savoring every last bit, or in this case, lick.
