“Welcome to the family, Leo,” Aunt Ruthie laughs.
“Happy to be here,” Leo responds.
“Oh, Dad, you’re never going to guess who Leo’s parents are…”
Leo groans but a text alert interrupts.
Eddie:The future, present, and past walked into a bar. Things got a little tense.
Ezra:Damn, if I didn’t miss your jokes.
Brent:We’ll see how you feel when you get those texts in the middle of the night.
Carlos:Or when you’re getting heavy with your girl.
Ezra:Who the hell’s this and who’s your girl?
Carlos:Who’s this?
Ezra:The Colonel.
Carlos:Oh. I’m Carlos and not Jillie.
Ezra:Carry on.
Dad looks at Leo. “Just how ‘heavy’ have you been getting with my Jillie?”
Leo shifts in his seat. “She’s really light.”
Dad laughs. “I’m not sure whether to be impressed or beat the hell out of you.”
Leo looks my dad straight in the eye. “Be impressed. Please, be impressed.”
My dad laughs again.
I’m just a simple girl who’s living a complicated life. Those who’ve tried to take me down have failed and can kiss this ass. And anyone else who tries to mess with me, can just kiss this too.
The End.
