“No.” There’s no hesitation. No need to think about it. I don’t regret it. “It was perfect, if only for one night.”

And there he is.

“Speak of the devil,” Audrey whispers with a snicker.

I don’t bother to look. I refuse. He’s too good-looking, too sexy, and he still gives me butterflies. I don’t understand how my body can respond like this when my mind and heart know what a jerk he is. Hormones. Betraying, traitorous hormones.

“Leo,” Ellen beckons the minute he sits down behind her. Their conversation is low and murmured, which works for me. I don’t want to hear it.

Chemistry, first hour, and Independent Study, fourth hour, are the two classes where I get the honor of seeing them both every day. Calculus I get only Leo. Art class I get Ellen. Thankfully, the last is every other day.

“I say we forget about them and get our party on tonight,” I tell Isla and Audrey. “I’ve had enough worrying about whatever might happen.”

“Now you’re talking,” Audrey replies.

“I’m so in,” Isla answers.

“Perfect.”

It’s not going to be, but I’m going to do my damnedest to make it as close to perfect as I can.
