CHAPTER FIVE
I’m not even awake when Audrey and Isla burst through my bedroom door. I groan and cover my head with my pillow. I’m not hungover, only because I remembered the trick of drinking a full glass of water and taking ibuprofen before going to bed. My mouth, though, tastes disgusting. Maybe if I breathe on them, they’ll go away.
They pounce on me.
“Girl, we need details,” Audrey exclaims.
“Definitely,” Isla agrees. “There’s so much I want to know.”
“What I want to know is how you two, who were so freaking wasted last night, are up so damn early,” I grumble.
“Um, Princess, it’s after noon,” Audrey teases.
“Still…” Holy crap. It’s after noon? I never sleep this long. “I blame it all on the jungle juice.”
They both snicker.
Isla lifts my pillow. “As well you should, but can you do that blaming while you tell us what happened last night?”
I huff.
Audrey squeals. “Eww. On second thought, go brush those teeth and use mouthwash before you say another word.”
“That is nasty,” Isla agrees.
“Please. Like your breath was minty fresh when you woke up,” I scoff as I throw back the covers and stalk to the bathroom. I do my business then brush my teeth, tongue, insides of my cheeks, gums—I don’t even attempt the roof of my mouth. I’ll probably throw up. My gag reflex is horrendous. I swish the mouthwash. I really doubt I’ll ever be able to give a blow job without gagging or throwing up. How unattractive would that be?
I make my way back to the bed and I tell them the story of Jack—sexy-as-all-hell Jack who was sweet, kind, tender, and rocked my world for just one night.
“What did he look like?” Audrey asks. “Maybe we can narrow it down.”
I roll my eyes. “There were four schools there last night—not just the two private schools from Shell Beach. It’s not going to be so easy.” Yet, both their guys left with the same group as him… so that should make it really easy—if I tell them that. Which I haven’t and won’t.
Isla groans. “That’s right. Waverly North and South, the public schools, were there, too.”
“It was a great mix last night and,” Audrey says, pointing at me, “there were no fights.”
“Much to your disappointment,” I counter.
“Not really. I had a good night with Brent.”
“That’s good,” I murmur.
“So did Isla,” Audrey coos.
“I saw. You totally owe me,” I announce.
She nods. “I do, totally. I don’t know how you managed to do it, but I’m so grateful.”
“She totally played up the fact that Ray was grinding on you, and then Ray threw him that look.” Audrey throws up her hands and laughs. “It was all over then.”
“Ray,” Isla scoffs. “We’re really great friends, nothing more.”
“Oh, I know it and you know it, but Carlos didn’t know it,” Audrey teases.
“You see what she’s doing, don’t you, Audrey?” Isla asks.
Audrey nods. “Oh, I see it alright. But she’s not getting away with it. Now spill. Who, what, where, when… how?”
