KnotMyProblem: Thank you for trusting me. I know this isn’t what you wanted

Gwynning: No, it’s not. But what I want when it comes to Matthew comes second to what he wants. He loves you. He wants to make things work with you. For the first time in years, there’s light when I look in his eyes. You may not be the man I imagined he’d fall in love with, but you’re a good man, and I know that you’ll care for him

The answer brought Damien to tears. He blinked them away before they could fall.

KnotMyProblem: Always

Gwynning: But fair warning: if you do end up hurting him, nothing will keep you safe. Placentas will be the least of your worries

KnotMyProblem: Understood.

KnotMyProblem: … does this mean I can call you Dad? ;)

Gwynning: Oh god

Gwynning: Muting you in 3… 2… 1…

KnotMyProblem: Wait!

KnotMyProblem: Wait wait wait wait

Gwynning: What

KnotMyProblem: Two things

KnotMyProblem: The first is that I’d like for us to have a talk with the rest of the Dads to clear the air. Harley and xV saw what went on, and I guarantee that TD found out what happened after I didn’t show up at the reception. I don’t want them to feel like they have to walk on eggshells. We should address this point blank so everyone can move on

Gwynning: Agreed

Gwynning: How does tomorrow sound?

KnotMyProblem: Tomorrow sounds great. 7PM your time work?

Gwynning: Yep, I’ll be there

KnotMyProblem: Perfect

KnotMyProblem: Second thing

KnotMyProblem: I don’t want to keep you in the dark about anything

KnotMyProblem: I’ve asked Matthew and Emily to come live with me in New York. If you’re not okay with that, can we talk it through?

Gwynning: Matthew already mentioned it

Gwynning: It makes sense to me. The two of you are expecting. I’m not going to keep you apart

Damien punched the air and pushed off across the room, spinning a full rotation in his chair before it came to a stop.

Gwynning: I trust you’ll arrange their travel and moving expenses?

KnotMyProblem: Oh fuck yeah, I will. I’ve been eyeballing my financials a little more scrupulously than usual in preparation for them and the new baby. I’ve made plans. Big, fucking scary plans, but plans that should guarantee I’ll have everything in order by the time the baby arrives. I can’t say much now, because I need to wait to see how things will unravel, but I can tell you that I’ve got everything under control

Gwynning: … plans?

Gwynning: Why does that make me nervous?

Damien smirked.
