Jayne snorted. Even as a newbie to the Single Dad chat, he knew better than that.

TeenDad2: omgomgomg

TeenDad2: @GlitterDoctor are you here???

TeenDad2: ommmmgmmmmggg

TeenDad2: Gliiiit where are youuuu?

KnotMyProblem: That’s a lot of duplicated letters, TD. Whats’s going on?

KnotMyProblem: damn it, *what’s

TeenDad2: Okay so I never told you but

TeenDad2: omg I don’t know if I should tell you

Gwynning: You can’t say that and then not tell us.

KnotMyProblem: Gwynn’s right, TD. If you don’t tell us, you’re violating the rules of the internet. That’s punishable by death.

xVerity: It’s true. That’s what happened to the original TeenDad

KnotMyProblem: May he rest in peace

The glare from the sun made it hard to read the screen no matter how Jayne tweaked his phone’s brightness. Eager to keep reading, he followed the length of the commercial complex in which the clinical trial building was established until he’d arrived at the far side, where there was shade. The parking lot didn’t get much use on this side of the building, and the street that ran parallel mainly served as an access point for employees to enter the back lot of both Jayne’s complex, and the one next door. He’d have privacy here. Caleb, who was on his way to pick Jayne up, might struggle to find him, but they had phones for a reason. When he arrived, Jayne was sure he’d call.

With the lighting now working in his favor, Jayne returned to the Single Dad chat.

LoveHarley: there was an original TeenDad?

TeenDad2: HARLEY!!!

LoveHarley: Hey TD

LoveHarley: so uh

LoveHarley: what exactly happened to the original teendad, anyway? Pretty sure we’ve had this conversation before, but I can’t remember what happened. i thought there wasn’t one

KnotMyProblem: Oh, Harley, it’s okay. I know what happened was so traumatic you probably had to block it from your memory

Gwynning: It was terrible.

xVerity: Tragic.

LoveHarley: I s2g I don’t remember what happened

xVerity: The original TeenDad told the chat that he’d just heard a rumor about a certain member of the group, then reneged and told us he couldn’t tell us what it was

xVerity: Unfortunately, as is stipulated in cyber penal code section C.147 34-5, it meant he had to be executed. He was sentenced to death via lethal virus and never seen again.

Gwynning: We’re waiting to see if his children will come to seek revenge when they grow up.

TeenDad2: PENAL CODE

TeenDad2: omg I’m seriously laughing out loud

KnotMyProblem: … TD
