“Your guy was a rapist.”

The woman shrugs like it’s no big deal. “Then he won’t be missed.”

“You need to be locked up for what you’re doing,” Danika seethes in frustration.

She throws her head back, a sharp laughter filling the space around us. “I’m a businesswoman, little girl. I do what I need to, to get where I am. You think being a woman in my line of business is easy? I worked my ass off to earn my ranking as a drug Queen.”

“You’re helping feed people’s mental illnesses. That’s not something to be proud of.”

She cocks her head, and I take one step ahead of Danika. Amelia eyes me first then grins. “They are their own people. I don’t force the pill on their tongue.”

Danika practically snarls in disgust. “You might as well have.”

Something flashes in the woman’s eyes, a flicker of lightness, maybe sorrow before she waves a dismissive hand. She goes to speak but I interrupt her, stepping away from mywoman, and stopping only inches from the drug Queen herself. “I have a bone to pick with your guy.” I point to Elroy who stands about five feet beside his boss, and I don’t miss the slight swallow.

“Go ahead. I can’t afford someone so unhinged anyway. He’s all yours.”

I grin with satisfaction but first, brush my fingers along Danika’s. I then stalk toward him. I’m going to take him away from this earth, and I’m going to do it with a fucking smile on my face.

He reaches for his piece in panic, but I’m too fast. I bend his elbow back, clocking him in the face, and break his nose.

“I told you I’d come for you.” I take his own piece aiming it at his head and pull the trigger. His body falls to the ground, blood pooling all around him.

Amelia stares down at her former pet, one brow cocked up. “If you’re all finished, get the hell off my turf.”

Chain invades her space, a hint of nerves flashing over her. “Don’t come near my guys again, Amelia. I mean it. Because next time, I won’t be so nice.”

The more he calls her by her name, the more familiar it becomes. I heard it before, I know I have.

Her expression is more sincere. But she can play that game somewhere else.

She smirks. “You know, you’ve gotten meaner in your old age.Is Maggie finally breaking you down? You’re not bored of her yet?”

“You’re done saying her name. She stays out of your mouth. I mean it.” Chain firmly keeps a finger pointed at her, and something resembling hurt fills Amelia’s features.

“Fair enough, Bennie.”

We go still and Chain winces.

Tank holds in a soft laugh. “Boss. Your name is—”

“Do not finish that sentence. Let’s get the fuck out of here.” Our President spins, leading us out of this shit hole.

I don’t know how they know each other, but Chain obviously wants to keep the peace considering he’s letting her live. And if he really thought she’d have killed us, he’d end her.

I take Danika’s hand in mine, my lips softly grazing her knuckles. “Let’s go home.”

She sighs, leaning into me. “Yes. Let’s go home.”

Danika

Liem takes me back to his place, not the clubhouse, but to the cabin. Something about being here is comforting. Safe. And natural.

“Are you all right?” He strokes the cut on my cheek careful not to hurt me and I lean into his touch.

“I am now. Although, I am freezing.” When they took us, I was wearing only my thin workout outfit.
