I free my hands to hold onto the back of the couch as I keep fucking her through both of our ongoing orgasms until I'm sure there's not another drop left in me. I stay buried inside her as I drape myself over her back, resting my weight on my forearms so I don't crush her as we catch our breath.
She winces when I finally pull out to look down at the milky liquid of both of our releases coating her thighs. It's messy…just like us.
I spendthe next few days waiting for the other shoe to drop. I half-expect my captain to call me in to be arrested for murder, but the call never comes. When I haven't heard a word about the three bodies Slade and I left for the Hell Hounds to dispose of being discovered after a week, I decide to put it behind me. The case of Maxine's attack will never be officially closed, but justice was served, and I'm sure Slade will give her whatever information she needs to feel safe again.
I told Sloan what happened that night. I told her every detail, because I never want another deception between us. I returned the keys to her studio across town to her and told her she doesn't have to dance at the club anymore. She just scoffed and told me she was more than capable of running her studio during the day and dancing at night. She's found a piece of herself at Dahlia's Deception just like I found my missing piece with her.
I step into the lobby of her studio an hour before her grand re-opening with a dozen black dahlias and a box that's been burning a hole in my pocket for the past week. When she steps out of the office and sees me standing there, she laughs.
“Last time you brought me flowers, I told you to go jump off a cliff,” she says as she takes the bouquet and shoves her nose into one of the blooms before setting the vase on the counter.
“I did,” I say as I drop to one knee. “I jumped head over heels in love with the tiny dancer that stole my heart nearly ten years ago. I know I almost ruined us, but I'm still asking you to jump with me. Marry me, Sloan.”
“I didn't hear a question,” she says as my favorite grin overtakes her face.
“I wasn't asking.” I stand with a smirk as I slide the platinum ring on her finger. “You're already mine.”
“I love you, Dick.” When I growl at the nickname, she grins again. “I mean…I loveyourdick. And I loveyou.I jumped off that cliff right along with you.”
I lift her in my arms and kiss her until we're both breathless.
