It was all lies. They were trying to confuse her.Her dad was dead.

"It's true."Baker returned to her, tears slipping down his weathered cheeks."I missed your whole life."

Lydia's throat closed.She couldn't breathe.Couldn't think.

She could only stare at the man whose voice had always been strangely comforting, whose presence had always made her feel safe without her understanding why.

Her father?

Her mom stretched out her arms toward her, but Lydia stepped back, shaking her head, her world spinning out of control.

Nothing made sense.

Nothing was real.

Baker's eyes softened in a way she'd never seen before."You're my daughter."

"I'm sorry, baby.I'm so sorry."Her mom sobbed."We'll talk.We'll answer your questions.Just, please, say something."

Lydia tuned them out.She didn't know who she was anymore.

Chapter 30

Lydia couldn't feelher legs. She couldn't breathe in enough air.Couldn't think past the words echoing in her skull.

Was Baker her father?

Baddy guided her away from everyone before she could collapse. He pulled out a chair at one of the tables and eased her into it.Every muscle in her body gave up the moment her ass hit the seat

Her hands shook in her lap.She stared at them, unable to lift her head, unable to look at anyone.Everything she knew was a lie.

Her mom had told her that her father was dead. That he died before she was born. That he was from a bad motorcycle club.God, the lies went on and on.

Royalla Motorcycle Club helped her. They weren't bad when you compared them to Cusclan.

Baker's boots landed in her vision. She didn't look up until a glass was set in front of her.Amber liquid sloshed inside.
