Don’t embarrass me, Wesley.

“Um…he likes his coffee with three cream and two sugar?”

This motherfucker. There’s no way he’s this dense!

“Uh-huh. And how does knowing how Grant takes his coffee benefit your career?”

“I don’t get yelled at. Therefore, I don’t become stressed and can excel at my work.”

“Interesting,” he chided. “It’s satisfying to know I spent tens of thousands of dollars sending you to law school to learn how to make your brother’s coffee. It stops now. You are an attorney, not an errand boy. Do you understand me?”

“Yes, sir,” he replied sheepishly.

“Good. Grant, since you have time to smoke, then I assume your plans for next year’s charity gala have been finalized.”

Fuck no.

“Of course, Dad.”

He smiled knowingly. We could never get away with a lie with our father—he was too seasoned and wise to fall for a little white lie.

“I can’t wait to hear about it over drinks next Monday. I’m buying.”

Thank you, Jesus. He gave me a week. I can get something done with that.

“I look forward to it.”

Dad clapped his hands together to redirect everyone’s focus. “Now, that’s out of the way; we must discuss the wedding itinerary. Thursday night, we’ll be taking a limo from the house—”

“Which house?”

This is why he makes my coffee.

“The same house you reside in, Kieran,” Dad said with an elaborate sigh.

“When are you going to get your own place? We all left when we went to college, and you’re still in your childhood bedroom,” Casey pressed.

“I’ll leave when I’m ready,” Kieran responded.

“I hope you’re ready by the new year,” Dad commented.

The look of betrayal on Kieran’s face nearly made my chest clench.

“Y-you’re kicking me out?”

“Kieran, relax. You’re 25, and your mother and I are more than ready to be empty-nesters.”

“Kieran the cockblock,” Daisy teased.

“Exactly,” Dad agreed, pointing at his youngest daughter.

“I don’t know what the big deal is. Most of the time I’m at Ronan’s place anyway.”

“Yeah, because you’re having gay slumber parties,” Daisy joked.

“You’re projecting, Daisy. Your little slumber parties with Nori is how we found out y’all were Scissor Sisters,” Casey taunted.

“Shut up!” Daisy yelled.
