“I’ll be down in a few. Let me know if you need help with anything, okay?”

I nodded, and he ran his hand over the column of my neck, wrapping it around the nape and pulling me in for a kiss.

Suddenly the prospect of an early morning yoga session was less appealing.

He pulled away, flashing me a little wink before he strolled into the bathroom and shut the door behind him.

What a tease!

I puffed out a breath, fighting to calm my libido on the walk down to the main floor. Remi raced down the stairs in front of me like he’d lived here his entire life. Calm and confident. Or maybe he was just hungry.

Once I’d given him some wet food and kibbles, I marched down the hall toward the living room.

The living room.

If you could even call it that.

Everything was so open, and the windows allowed the early morning light to pour into the space.

I loved my home in Briar Glenn, but I wouldn’t mind living in a place like this.

I spread my mat over the hardwood floors and took a moment to stretch, reviewing Chai’s notes. It was so incredibly kind of her to write out the sequences from the classes I was missing while I was here. When I told her I’d be missing class because I was visiting her father, her face lit up. I was glad there wasn’t any awkwardness between the two of us.

After starting the meditative playlist on my phone, I threw my hair up and stepped to the center of my mat. For a few minutes, I sat there, listening to the droning of the music, readying myself for my practice, thankful that my body allowed me to move so freely.

“Mind if I join you?”

I opened my eyes to find Alistair spreading out a yoga mat beside me.

“Really?” I asked in shock.

He grinned and sat cross-legged on his mat with a groan. “Really. I told you I wanted to take up yoga this year. The fact that it’s one of your hobbies happens to be an added bonus. I’ll warn you, though, I’ve just been following these online videos that Chai recommended. I haven’t taken any classes—yet.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“I wanted to surprise you.”

Tears welled up in my eyes because I was awed again by how thoughtful he was. Alistair was everything I’d spent the last few years reading about, all the things I wanted but thought I’d never have.

He was all the things I deserved.

I was finally in a place where I could admit that.

“Hey,” he said, reaching over and caressing my thigh. “We can’t do yoga if you’re crying.”

I took off my glasses and wiped away the tears. “It’s really sweet, that’s all.”

“Sweetheart, if you told me you were taking up snake charming, I’d try it. If it interests you, it interests me.”

I snorted. “Well, lucky for you, there’s only one type of snake I’m interested in charming.”

His eyes widened, then he blinked a few times. “Pam Rollins, are you talking about my cock?”

“Maybe,” I said with a little shrug of my shoulders.

Alistair threw back his head, his rumbling laugh echoing through the living room. He was so funny, and I felt a little spark of pride each time I made him laugh.

“You can charm my snake anytime,” he said when he finally caught his breath.
