Colt gathered her into a hug. He kissed her forehead. “I want to protect you all the time,” he said. “On or off the clock. I will always be there for you.”

“My mom will be disappointed,” Natalie said, teasing. “She expects me to buy a house in Alabama.”

“Wait till she meets me. Moms love me. I’m better than a house.”

“No argument there. That’s a big plus of having you around. I always feel safe in your presence, no matter where I am.”

“I have many pluses,” Colt said. “Let’s go back to your place, and I’ll show you.”

Natalie slipped her hand into his and eyed him from head to toe. “I’ve already taken the tour,” she said. “I’m sold.”

Colt cupped her chin with his free hand and kissed her hard. “I’m officially off the market. The keys to all of me are yours.”
