Ross’s head flopped back on his shoulders.Of course they’d told Glenn he was broken down.Of course they had. That hunter green Aston Martin was unmistakable. Not to mention the model-gorgeous man climbing smoothly out of it.

He and Rocco would have words later. Many words.

“Mama, you’re about to meet my boyfriend.”Ross gave into the inevitable wave at Glenn through the glass.“The man with the auburn hair is Glenn.”

Imani took him in from head to toe.Glenn was obviously in ‘casual’ mode, as he wore dark corduroy pants, a white cable-knit sweater, and a dark brown leather jacket over it all.He looked like he’d just stepped off a magazine shoot and had forgotten to change to street wear.He spotted Ross, gave a wave, and then headed for the front door with his usual confident stride.

“Lord have mercy,” Imani breathed, her eyes glued to him as he made his way inside.“Damn, that man isfine.I can see why you couldn’t resist him.And why didn’t you say he was handsome?”

Hadn’t he?Oh, maybe he hadn’t.Ross truly appreciated that Glenn was handsome, no mistake, but that wasn’t really why he was attracted. It was everything else that had sold him.In any case, he had no chance to respond before Glenn was in the main dining room with them.

Ross stood to greet him.“I had this handled, you know.”

“No, I knew no such thing,” Glenn denied pleasantly. He leaned in to give Ross a chaste kiss on his mouth before chastising, “I knew you called a tow truck and that your car had abandoned you here.Because Rocco called me.”

“I did not call you for a very good reason.”Ross rolled his eyes and resigned himself to the whims of Fate. What he’d done to piss her off, he had no idea.Turning, he faced his very curious family members.“Glenn, this is my mother, Imani.”

Glenn took in the situation with a slow blink, then understanding dawned.“Ah.I seem to have stumbled into a family dinner. My apologies. But I’m enchanted to meet you, Mrs.Young.”

Imani could not have been more enchanted herself. She looked a little starry-eyed as she smiled back.“Yes, it’s good to meet you.Ross was just telling us about you.”

Glenn’s eyes shot to his, a question in them.

“Yeah, I just came out to my mother and explained to her that I have a hot boyfriend,” Ross informed him dryly.“Your timing is impeccable. And this is my brother, Levonn.”

Levonn held out a hand, which Glenn accepted and shook. His brother was avidly curious, but seemed to have a good first impression.“Nice to meet you.”

“And you.I would have picked you out of a crowd, truly. You and your brother look much alike.”

“Yeah, Mom’s genes run strong in her kids.”Levonn gestured to an empty chair at the table.“Here, sit, join us.I assume you came to give Ross a ride?”

“Yes, quite so.”

Ross still needed to give Rocco the keys, but he didn’t want to abandon Glenn to his family two seconds into them meeting. That seemed a really poor life decision.“Glenn, can you run my keys to Rocco first?”

“Of course.”Glenn accepted the keys and gave a quick smile to the others.“Be right back.”

Ross waited until Glenn was through the door before leaning in to hiss, “Be good, both of you.”

Imani’s eyes were on Glenn.“Even if you don’t ask for help, he comes to help anyway. That’s a very good sign, honey.”

He put his hands together in praying fashion.“Mama, I’m begging you.Do not interrogate him, alright?”

She blinked at him, all innocence.“Now, you know I wouldn’t do that.”

“I know no such thing.I have seen you with Levonn’s girlfriends, and I’m asking you to not do that here.”

Levonn snorted wry agreement.“You really do that, Mama.”

She shot him a dark look.“I’m trying to make sure they’re good for my son.And none of them were; you broke up with all of them.”

“That does not excuse you,” Levonn pointed out.

Glenn was back in earshot before Ross could say anything else.He shed his jacket smoothly before sitting down, taking the empty seat next to Imani as if it were perfectly natural to do so.Ross belatedly realized he should have switched spots or made Levonn move so he could sit next to his boyfriend.Oops.

Imani was all ears as she asked, “How did you two meet?I know you hired my son, but he’s not told me much.”

Didn’t get a chance to.Ross wasn’t about to defend himself, there was no point. That wasn’t what his mother really asked.
