"The Real Australians?" Vinny said, shaking his head. "Really, Savannah? The fact that you're being weird makes me think this isn't who I thought it was."
"The Real Australians isn't weird for her," Wyatt said. "That's one of her more normal team names.The last time I was on the team with her, she named us the Hanging-Off Pieces."
"The hanging-off pieces of what?" Vinny said, making a face that made everyone laugh.
"I remember one time she called our dodgeball team the Fat Captain Hooks, and Jessica Abshire refused to play until we changed it," Wyatt said.
Zoey laughed. "I liked that one too. I told Jess it was the P-H-A-T captain hooks, but she didn't go for it."
"I liked it when I assumed it was F-A-T," Wyatt said, joking around.
"You guys need to stop," Emma said.
"Yeah," Vinnie said, "Savannah's friend may be EJ Decker, and he's going to think we're all out of our minds."
"I am EJ, but I also think the Real Australians is one of the coolest team names I've ever had," EJ said. He glanced at me and smiled. "What are we playing?"
"It's a game where we have to get our teammate to guess a word by giving them clues," Zoey explained.
"Yeah, but you have to avoid the most obvious words," Wyatt said.
"It's on a card," Zoey said. "And there's a timer. We'll show you."
"First, you need to make a taco," Emma said. "Are you guys hungry?"
EJ and I made tacos, and we ate and watched everyone else play a round of the game so that he could get the hang of it. Most of my friends acted normal. Vinny and Wyatt were both nervous once they got confirmation that EJ was indeed a Decker. They showed off, but that was fairly normal for them, anyway. Each team would play several rounds of the game, and we joined in during the second one, at which point they started keeping score.
EJ was smart and competitive, and the two of us were naturals at the game even though we didn't have the practice rounds like the other teams. We blew them out of the water.
