Liam yawns and scratches his head, messing up his hair even more. I’d already done a number on it with my hands. “Is there anywhere in this place that doesn’t have eyes or ears, so I can take this?” he asks the guys, getting up and shucking on his pants.
“Fuck,” Jax grumbles, rolling over to plant a kiss on my pubis before getting off the bed. “I’ll set you up in the office.”
Jax rummages around in Keane’s dresser and pulls out a pair of gray sweatpants, and I giggle. He looks over his shoulder at me and winks, knowing exactly where my mind went. There are a few memes that have gone viral on social media about men with big dicks wearing gray sweatpants.
“I’ll check in with the men and bring back some food and coffee,” Jax says, crawling back onto the mattress and over me. “Don’t move your sexy ass from this bed.” He gives me a quick, hard kiss before retreating and walking out of the bedroom.
Liam leans over and kisses my bare nipple, making me hiss. “Sore?”
“Yeah.”
“Good.”
Typical male.
“We’ll need to get back soon,” he tells me, and I groan again. He’ll have to carry me out to the car because there is no way I’m going to be able to walk to it myself.
“Okay.”
“Want me to check in on Rafe?”
I shake my head on the pillow to tell him no. “I’ll do it. Hand me my phone?”
It’s been a couple of hours, but my phone hasn’t gone off, so I’m assuming still no change. The longer that goes on, the more I worry. I don’t know Declan’s doctor. Hollis was who would tend to the more serious injuries for the men working for Maximillian, and he’s a fucking plastic surgeon.
“Hurry the fuck up,” Jax calls Liam from the hallway. Guess their tentative truce while they fucked me is quickly coming to an end, and it’s back to business as usual.
As soon as Liam walks out, Keane pulls me to him and drapes me over his chest like a blanket, tucking my head under his chin. He runs a hand through my sexed-up, tangled hair and begins massaging the back of my neck. I melt into him like warm candle wax, staying like that for several minutes before I rouse up enough energy to lift my head and turn on my phone’s screen. There’s a text from Tessa waiting for me that I didn’t hear come in.
GirlDownLow: Still no change. When are you and Liam coming back? He hasn’t checked in. Declan won’t admit that he’s waiting up for you. But he totally is. It’s kind of cute actually.
A small grin curves my lips. It’s bizarre how easily Declan has taken to the new role of being a dad. It’s even weirder how easily I’ve accepted him in that role.
GirlUpHigh: Leaving soon.
Keane flips my phone around to see what I’m texting. Nosy asshole. I turn the screen off and toss the phone to the other side of the bed. I’m not ready to face the world outside this bedroom yet. I want to live in this quiet bubble with the guys a little while longer. I know my next words are going to set Keane off, but I can’t avoid not telling him or Jax what went down earlier tonight. I came here to the house for a reason.
I decide to play my woman card and butter him up first by kissing along the side of his jaw and nibbling his ear. His dick instantaneously perks up under my thigh that’s splayed over his middle.
“How can that thing still work?”
His chest vibrates with his chuckle. “It tends to do that whenever you’re around.”
I turn his face and our lips meet. “I need to talk to you about something.”
Pulling back, he eyes me with irritation. “Why do I get the feeling I’m not going to like this?”
My face scrunches up. “Eh,” is my answer.
Keane’s dark brows knit together. “What the hell did you do now?”
“Why would you jump to that conclusion?” I accuse, but he’s spot on.
“Andie—”
“—What happened to Rafe is my fault,” I quickly get out, shame and guilt riding me hard. I should have known better than to try and handle Julio and Alejandro on my own. My stupid fucking plan to lure them out with me as bait backfired big time, and Rafe paid the price.
Keane lifts me off him to sit up. I mirror him. He runs a hand through his hair, then rests his forearms over his bent knees, his face a mask of both concern and exasperation. “Explain.”
