He had to have her. It was no longer debatable.

He took one of his hands from her ass and lifted her chin. When his eyes roamed down from her eyes to her lips, even she knew they were at that point of no return. And when he kissed her, she didn’t fight against it or do anything to hamper him. She kissed him back. Which only made him kiss her with even more ferocity. And hold her with even more possessiveness. And then roll her off of him and onto her back and kiss her even harder.

But not just her mouth. But her breasts. And between her legs. She was moving to his every movement too.

And then he laid back on his back, pulled her back on top of him, and enter her with a thrust that took her breath away. She momentarily forgot to breathe it was so intensely sensational.

He held her and she held onto him as they made love for what seemed like several long hours even though it was less than half an hour.

But even as they were nearing orgasm, he knew how to stop hitting her in that spot to keep it going. It was as if he knew her body like he knew his own. They continued making love.

And when they came, it was beyond electrifying. Joy screamed out so loud and William moaned and groaned so hard that they had the bed jumping for joy too. It had been years, ever since she broke up with Sanchez, that a man had touched her like that.

Now she was being touched in a way that floored her. She was shaking when he poured everything he had into her. She was actually shaking.

William wasn’t shaking, but he was shaken by the mere intensity of their cum. He had never felt it so forcefully. It took more than a few minutes for them to finally come back down from the high their lovemaking had taken them on.

And they just laid there, arm in arm, with Joy still on top of William.

And it was then, in those moments after, that they both realized they had worn no protection.

For Joy, she was worried about diseases. What if William didn’t use condoms whenever he was with Felicity, or any of his other ladies? She couldn’t imagine that witch insisting on a condom as bad as she wanted him. What was to say that the others weren’t the same way?

But for William, it was about pregnancy. After Kaitlyn, there was no way he was going to bring another child into this world, he didn’t care who it was with. There was no way.

And even if she told him it wasn’t necessary, he wasn’t taking any chances.

“On our way to the office,” he said to her, “we’ll stop by the pharmacy.”

Joy didn’t understand why. She looked at him. “The pharmacy?”

“For the morning after pill, yes.”

“Oh,” Joy said. Then she laid her head back down. And thought about it. That wasn’t his decision to make.

She looked up at him again. “What if I don’t wanna take it?”

“That’s not up for debate. You’re taking it.”

Joy didn’t like his tone. He spoke to her as if she was his child. But she also didn’t like that unflinching look in his eyes. This man wasn’t playing with her. But she felt it best to cross that bridge when they got to it. He wasn’t going to make her take any pill she didn’t want to take, but that was her business right now. She laid her head back down on his chest.

But already she was seeing the fissures of what was supposed to be a strictly business relationship that had no business going this far anyway. Was it a crack they could overcome, or was it a crack that would ultimately consume them both?

She didn’t know. But she did know there was nothing she could do about it right then.

She relaxed again. She felt his warm embrace again. She fell asleep in his arms.

CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

Melissa McCabe looked at Felicity Feldman with contempt and fear in her eyes. “Why did you do that?” she cried out as she held the side of her face Melissa had just slapped. “I tried with everything within me, Mel. He kicked me out. He made me leave!”

“I told you it had to work. Did I not tell you that? This time it had to work or it’s your ass!”

“And it would have worked if he would have let me stayed. But he wouldn’t. He kicked me out.”

“Why would he kick you out? Tell me that, Fee. He knew you were coming over. You said it was arranged. What changed?”

Felicity hated to admit it. “Another woman was there.”
