Was never going to get tired of the sight of her.
That she was here.
That she was mine.
She kept inching toward the bedroom. A torrent of wet cinnamon locks curling over her bare shoulders and draping down her back.
I stalked behind her to the threshold, watching her pad with bare feet across the worn, wooden floors that had been empty for so long, but since she and those kids had come into my life, it had been filled with clatter and chaos and love.
The vacancy—the void—filled with their spirits.
And now that I had it, I was never letting it go.
“Gonna need you to drop that towel,” I grumbled from where I stood in the archway, a shoulder hooked to the wall as I watched her creep back out into the faint, glittering light.
An angel treading through the darkness, the light clambering to get to her because that’s what she was.
The goodness and the grace in the middle of the gloom.
Stilling, she peeked back at me. A flash of that shyness traipsed through her expression. Redness splashing her cheeks and her old insecurities trying to break through.
But they didn’t have a place any longer.
“You don’t need to be shy. Don’t need to hide. Not with me.”
We’d been hiding for far too fuckin’ long.
“Wife.” I tacked it onto the end.
Emphasized it.
Let it boom through the room and bounce against the walls.
The shout of a claim.
Glee and that sweet timidness tumbled across her soft flesh, all mixed with a dose of bold that made my fucking heart leap.
My heart that had forgotten how to beat until the moment she came back into my life.
“What is it you want to see, husband?” She drew the husband out. Coated it in honey. Murmured it in surrender.
All while she let the towel slide down an inch.
Nothing but a tease.
A grunt jutted out as my guts fisted in a bid of want.
“Want to see it all. Everything that belongs to me.”
“Is that so?” She went coy. So fucking cute and sexy as she swayed and peeked back at me again. Those plush lips swollen and plump from my desperate kisses. Eyes filled with a new hope that hadn’t been present before.
“That’s very so.” It tumbled out like a command.
She let the towel droop further, low enough to expose the small of her back.
“All the way.” The words ground off my tongue, and a shiver rocked through Daisy as she released it.
It dropped to the floor.
