He wrapped his arms tight around her. “How did I ever get so lucky as to find you?”
“Because obviously Nenek’s tithes to the god Tua Pek Kong paid off.”
“And why was she bribing a god on my behalf?”
“Not yours, mine. She wanted me to find love, and what do you know… I ended up with not only the man of my dreams, but a pet tiger, too.”
His mouth rounded in astonishment, and she laughed. It proved contagious, and when their mirth died down, he murmured, “Remind me to thank this god of yours, and Nenek.”
“We can show our appreciation to Tua Pek Kong right now, actually.”
“How?”
She cupped him and whispered, “By making love to show our appreciation for the gift of our lives.”
He’d never heard a more perfect idea.
Chapter Nineteen
While exhaustion did tugat Nadirah, she couldn’t help but kiss and touch Phoenix. She’d come so close to losing him. To losing the only man she wanted by her side, and in her bed, forever.
Apparently, he felt the same urgency as she did, because their kiss went from soft to frenzied in a mere moment. As for her clothes? They might not be wearable, given she heard seams ripping as he tore them from her frame.
But he was all gentleness as he placed her on the bed. She trembled at the sight of him, and he frowned.
“Are you all right?”
“I will be once you make love to me.”
“Your wish is my command.” He immediately knelt on the bed and kissed her thigh before nuzzling her mound.
“Mmm.” She couldn’t help but hum, then immediately gasped as he settled between her thighs and placed a kiss on her sex.
The man had a magical tough—and tongue. He licked her, parted her, teased her, and all she could do was enjoy, her fingers threaded through his hair, clasping him close.
He lapped, his tongue raspier than usual, the increased friction making her buck. He tugged at her clit with his lips as he penetrated with two fingers, knowing what she liked. He thrust in and out, bringing her to the edge and stopping. Stopping so he could remove his pants, and then he resumed, pumping her quivering channel while his tongue lapped at her pleasure button.
When she began thrashing her head side to side, he guided his cock into her, stretching her so perfectly, his strokes deep and strong. She couldn’t help but clamp onto him, feeling herself rising upon that crest of bliss only he could engender.
They came together, bodies locked, lips meshed, a perfect match who’d survived the deadliest odds.
As they lay together basking in the afterglow, him spooning her from behind, his hand resting on her belly, he murmured, “Are you happy?”
She knew he didn’t mean in general. “Yes. Finding out I was with child was a shock, but I already adore it. How could I not, when I love you so very much?”
“I promise I will be the best husband and father you could ask for. That is, assuming you’ll marry me?”
Her answer was to drag him down for a kiss that came with a whispered reply. “A hundred times, yes.”
Less than a week later, inside a new jungle the general knew nothing about, they married in front of their new harimau friends, as well as Nenek, who’d been smuggled to their location for the special occasion. She beamed so wide Nadirah feared her dentures might fall out.
Later that night, as they lay in their temporary treetop bed, Nadirah smiled as she nestled against her new husband.
“What’s happening? Why are they making so much noise?” Phoenix asked as tigers roared and yowled outside.
“They’re welcoming us to the ambush.”
