Aaron continues. That explainswhy they are bombing our house. The firetruck sirens interrupt our conversation, and at least they are quick to respond because now the rest of the house is engulfed in flames.
“I will kill you.” I say with a low growl as I notice the flames reaching my bedroom.
“I did try to warn you.” Aaron responds with a low voice.
“When? When did you try to warn me?” I turn to face him and he holds his hands up in the air.
“I tried to tell you about Chad but you wouldn’t shut up about this Nova girl.” I raise an eyebrow and he continues. “It’s not my fault if you paused for one second and let me talk we would have left the house before the…” He stops talking as if he froze in his spot. “Isn’t that the girl you were talking about?” He points at the pink-haired beauty who walks with a tank of gasoline at the end of the street.
“What the hell? Nova?”
I yell at her while rushing toward her. She seems like she didn’t hear me as she approaches a car. By the time we reach her, she is drenching that car with gasoline.
“Hey, pinkie.”
She continues with her task as if I am not even here.
“What are you doing?”
I ask with caution, as if I am talking to a kid. She is clearly lost in her anger. Her wet pink hair is slightly tangled, as if she left her house right after showering. The semi-wet white fabric of her top clings to her body, highlighting the brown of her nipples and the pink heart jewelry on them. The denim pair of shorts has risen higher, revealing more of her beautiful legs. And eventhough she is hot as hell, the angry look on her face should be some sort of red flag keeping me from drooling at the sight of her. A memo that clearly hasn’t reached my brain, as scenarios of how hot she would look bent over that car instead reach my mind. She is a beautiful mess, dangerous and unpredictable.
“Oh hey, Ash. Just burning Craig’s car.”
She responds casually, as if it’s the most normal thing in the world.
“Who the fuck is Craig?” I question, but Aaron chimes in instead.
“Her boyfriend.”
“Ex boyfriend. The asshole cheated on me then had the balls to come to my apartment like nothing happened.”
Okay, that’s a logical reason to burn his car.I grab the lighter from her hand just as she is about to toss it onto the car.
“Maybe we should not burn a car when the fire department and a bunch of police cars are on the same road.”
I say, pointing to the house that is still in flames. She looks at me as if she's considering burning me with the car before she replies.
“I would really prefer to burn it now.”
I laugh, “Sure you would.”
I say, gently pushing her to walk toward the house. She doesn't complain as she walks in the direction of my house.
“At least we know the boyfriend is not a problem anymore.” Aaron says in a low voice as we walk behind her.
“Shut up.” I whisper yell, making sure the crazy lady isn’t listening.
He winks at me, then rushes to her, extending a hand to introduce himself. Nova isabout to shake his hand, but pauses, stopping midway with her hand in the air as she fixates on something behind him.
Her ex-boyfriend, Craig, is standing in front of the house across from mine with the blonde girl I had mistaken for his girlfriend the night of the race. They don’t seem to notice the house on fire across the street, the fire trucks, or the police filling our street as if it’s a reunion event.
His tongue explores the mouth of the blonde girl, and his hands explore her body. Both completely in their own little bubble, shutting out the chaos around them completely.
Nova stares at him for a second, and before we can do anything, she starts running and yelling at him. “You fucking asshole I am going to kill you!”Damn it, why do I always like the crazy ones?
“Pinkie, get back here!” I rush behind her. “You can’t threaten people when the street is full of police cars!”
I yell, trying to catch up before she gets to him.
