She lowers her eyes looking coyly. ‘It was pretty badass, wasn’t it?’
I chuckle. ‘Yes, baby. It was incredibly badass.’
Chapter forty-nine
Isla
My world is complete. Here in our cosy little home, I finally feel at peace.
Liam had asked if I wanted to move into one of the larger suits and when I’d said yes him and the guys worked tirelessly to get the place sorted out for baby Innis’ arrival. Having the extra room has meant we could build a nursery for Innis, his very own room to have when he’s old enough. It’s also meant that we have space for a wee living room — one that I had full creative freedom over.
Around us, sitting on our navy blue sofas are my family. They may be a little wild and I won’t have to worry about my weeboy getting bored any time soon but I love them all despite their quirks.
‘I think the lil guy is hungry,’ Liam coos as he hands me our son.
‘He’s such a cutie, I just want to cuddle him all day long.’ Fauna beams as she plops down next to the coffee table full of food.
‘Innis loves his Aunty Luna’s cuddles the best, don’t you?’ Luna grins as she sits across from Fauna.
They’ve been playfully competing for the title of favourite aunty since he was born.
‘Hate to break it to you ladies but the wee man gives me the biggest smile, doesn’t he, Liam?’ Vish prompts.
Liam laughs, ‘he is obsessed with those perfect brows you’ve got mate.’
I cradle Innis as he begins to feed, happy to watch as Liam and Vish joke on together. It’s been great seeing the two of them get on again, even better now that Liam has stopped death glaring at him every time they are in the same room as each other.
It turns out Liam had read the situation all wrong that night he saw us in the hallway. Vish had known the second he saw Liam and me that we were perfect for each other. He’d even suspected Liam’s plan to collect all of the items on my list, or at least knew Liam wouldn’t be put off by my stormy exterior. That’s why he’d been such a cocky prick for weeks.
Liam had come clean to me after the subway incident, and although I wasn’t impressed that he’d broken his word not go out again, I was too relieved to have him safe and home to care. Though he did get a firm talking to, and fuck knows what Ru said, but they’d had some heated words as well.
I smile at the memory, looking over to my brother who is munching on some snacks with Fauna resting against his chest.
There is a knock at the door, and Liam jumps up to answer it, letting Elizabeth and Foster step inside.
‘Hey Liz,’ I call out. ‘Hi, Foster.’
Liz smiles, coming over to hand me a box, ‘some things I found for Innis whilst I was out yesterday.’
‘Thank you.’
She smiles before returning to Foster's side. He leans against the back wall. His hood is up, casting the side of his face in shadows. Trust Liz to find someone who speaks less than she does.
‘Help yourselves to snacks,’ Liam offers, coming back to my side with a plate. The smell of fresh rhubarb greets me and my stomach rumbles. ‘Here, baby.’ Liam says, holding up a spoonful of crumble for me.
‘Aww, look at that shit, man.’ Luna clutches her heart, ‘The three of you are just so adorable.’
I chuckle as Liam scoops another spoonful of rhubarb crumble.
‘These snacks are great, Isla.’ Vish mumbles around a bite.
‘Yeah, these truffles are unreal.’ Fauna states and the others all hum in agreement.
‘Truffles?’ I ask, looking around the table.
Liam’s hand drops as he too looks around.
I gasp.
