I walk her through the motions of creating the burger patty. “Good, just like that,” I praise when she takes the lead on the next one and executes the movement perfectly. Needing to catch my breath and break the sexual tension in the kitchen, I quickly pull my fingers from hers. “You got this; I need to go check the grill.”

I hurriedly wash my hands and bolt from the kitchen without so much as a backward glance. Rounding the corner from the dining room so I am out of her line of sight on the back patio, I seriously debate throwing myself in the pool to cool off but instead just lean back against the wall and take a few deep breaths. Scrubbing my hands down my face, I try to talk down the semi in my shorts. Thank god, she didn’t seem to notice it poking into her ass.

Who gets turned on in the middle of mixing raw ground beef?!What the fuck?I’ve never cooked with a woman before Ivory, and I certainly have never given a woman a hands-on cooking lesson before.

Get it together, Fields. You can’t fuck the coach’s daughter on the kitchen counter while stuck on a tiny island for another week. What the fuck am I thinking? I can’t fuck the coach’s daughter. Period.

But Ivory is so much more than the coach’s daughter and it’s getting harder and harder to resist her.

“Ohmyfuckinggodthatissogood.” A deep guttural moan escapes Ivory’s mouth as she chews a bite of her cheeseburger.

Down boy, that moan isn’t for you.But why do I have an image of Ivory on her knees worshiping my cock in the same way? Or of my face buried between her thighs while she makes those same noises.

“You okay? Do you not like it?” Ivory asks, pointing at my untouched plate and breaking into my fantasy.

“Oh, no.” I take a big bite of my own cheeseburger. “Damn, that’s good.”

“Are you just saying that? You don’t have to lie to me to make me feel better.”

“No, I’m not just saying that. I wouldn’t do that. It’s great, Ivory. You did good.”

“Not bad for my first time, though you did help a lot,” Ivory says, downplaying it or is that flirtation?

“I’ll be your sous chef anytime,” I say, sending her a wink.

We polish off our plates in relative silence but it's no less enjoyable than any other time we spend together. The sexual tension notches higher with every bite and groan from Ivory's throat as she devours her cheeseburger.

“Do you want to watch a movie?” Ivory asks from her place at the table while I clean up the kitchen.

“Yeah, sure. I’m going to take a shower first though.”

Ivory looks at me questioning. No doubt because I took a shower earlier. But, if I don’t go relieve some of this tension, I am going to spontaneously combust. I can’t handle a night on the couch with her in my current state.

URGENT INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR FLIGHT:

We’re sorry to inform you that your flight 742 from Belize City to Tampa, Florida has been canceled.

Please contact the airline for more information.

“Hey, gramps,” Miller says, answering the call. It’s been a few days since we last talked.

“You’re an asshole,” I say, but don’t mean it.

“What did I do?” Miller asks, affronted. He doesn’t mean it either.

“You sent me on this trip and now my flight is canceledagain.” The alert on my phone woke me up this morning. I came down to the dock to call the airline and Miller before Ivory could wake up. She didn’t take it well when the original flight was canceled. I hope she doesn’t have the same reaction but I also don’t know what she has waiting on her back home. She's been working on something new but I don’t know what that means. Is she counting down the days to get back? I’m not. Idon’t know when I stopped, but sometime in the last week, I’ve stopped keeping track of how much time is left before I get back to Tampa. The league hasn’t made any movement on when the season will start. And the Players Association hasn’t agreed to any terms for a practice schedule or anything else. We’re all in a waiting game so what’s the rush?

“Oh shit.” He chuckles.

“Not funny.”

“Kinda funny.” I can’t hold my serious tone anymore and laugh with him.
