Dawn hovered on the edge, embarrassed to give voice to her desire. His large fingers plunged deeper, his lips circling her clit and beginning to pull gently. The sensation drove any sense out of her head.
“Please make me come!” she screamed.
“Gladly,” he growled, then set about sucking and licking, his fingers thrusting, hitting just the right spot to make her shoot over the edge, tumbling down into the abyss of pleasure.
When she regained consciousness, she felt him licking at her stomach, his talented tongue painting circles around her navel. “You, madam, are the tastiest treat I’ve had the pleasure of devouring.”
His words made her shiver. She’d already experienced so much, but his tone hinted that there were still untold hours of indulgence remaining. Dawn felt weak but also anxious to resume their sensual dueling.
Then came the knock at the door.
“Fuck.” Z grimaced, lifting himself to his feet and padding toward the door, the one facing out on the spiral and not the one they’d entered.
Dawn scrambled into a sitting position, pulling her dress down and tucking her legs underneath her. Then she realized that preserving her modesty didn’t make sense. If the person outside had been there for longer than a few moments, they would have heard her cries and realized exactly what was taking place behind the closed door.
Praying for adequate soundproofing, Dawn listened to the exchange at the door.
“Z,” a feminine voice purred. “I wondered where you’d gone. I missed you downstairs.”
Dawn was instantly on edge. Of course, another female had come sniffing around. She couldn’t blame the woman really. He was a superior specimen of masculinity.
“I’m presently occupied,” he replied.
The woman gave a throaty laugh. “For now. But you did promise to give me a spin in zero-g tonight, remember?” A green-tinted hand extended through the doorway, its pink-tipped nail sliding over Z’s chest.
An unfamiliar feeling hit Dawn in the guts. Without thinking, she stood up, walked to the other doorway, and picked up her shoes. Her good time had soured with the introduction of another female.
It was fun,but now it’s done. A guy like him isn’t for keeping anyway.Already another woman was getting in line to try the ride of her life. Dawn wasn’t much for competition, at least not sexual competition.Let her have him.You got yours, and now you can get out.
“I remember, Sheveen,” she heard him reply. “But I’m afraid I have to—”
Without bothering to listen to the rest, Dawn shut the other door behind her as quietly as possible. Slinking down the luxurious hallway toward the elevator, she suddenly wished she could sink into the floor. Embarrassment tinged with shame rocked her.
Reaching toward her left earring, she pushed on the stud. In a moment, she was covered by a light-refracting cloak that would render her invisible. Thankful that she’d invented a personal cloaking device, she made it to the elevator and tapped the button to call the car.
“Wait,” a voice yelled. Swiveling to look back down the hall, Dawn caught sight of her companion tumbling out into the hall. “Where did you go?”
The elevator chimed when the doors opened and his head turned in that direction. Dawn jumped into the car, pushing herself deep into one of the corners, sliding into a crouch on the floor.Talk about your walk of shame.
The doors were just closing as he reached them, having run down the corridor at lightning speed. A hand pushed the doors open, and he stood there, chest heaving, checking out what appeared to be an empty car.
“The fuck?” he murmured, stepping back and allowing the doors to close. Dawn let out a big breath as she crawled forward to hit a button on the elevator panel. The car began to descend and she stood, wobbling slightly.
When the doors opened on the lowest floor, she skittered out of the elevator, folding her limbs in tightly, being careful not to accidently touch anyone as she made her way through the crowd. Unable to help herself, Dawn looked up, catching sight of her partner rushing down the spiral. He peeked into rooms, his eyes scanning everywhere as he took the spiral at a jog.
A secret smile crossed her lips at the god’s pursuit.Guess I wasn’t that replaceable.
She was at the exit when he made it to the bottom of the spiral. Z made his way across the dancefloor, checking each small female, looking for her face in the crowd.
“Good luck,” she whispered, knowing he’d never find her. Dawn pushed her way out the door, catching the security person by surprise. He poked his head into the club, trying to figure out who had opened his door and then disappeared. By the time Z made it out onto the street, she was halfway to her ship.
When she reached the vessel, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath to calm herself. Pressing her earring again to deactivate the cloaking device, Dawn told herself to put the encounter out of her mind.
Until I’m alone and can remember it in painstaking detail.
“A fun evening, I see,” Ladee said, looking up from the old-fashioned paper book he was reading as she opened the small craft’s hatch. “Looks like you were able to blow off that steam.”
“It was cool,” she said with a nonchalant shrug. “Now move over.”
