All of that combined? It made for a night I would never forget.

We took turns showering, and then Lila practically passed out in bed. “You can spend the night if you want,” Jace told me while we watched her sleep. “I’ve slept over a few times, I figure it’s your turn.”

“Thanks, but I’d rather go home,” I replied.

Jace shrugged. “Suit yourself. Good teamwork tonight, bud.”

“You too. Let’s do it again sometime.”

Jace smiled down at Lila. “Hell yeah.”

As I drove home, I wondered why I hadn’t taken him up on his offer. I loved cuddling after sex, feeling a woman’s warmth up against my body while we both drifted off to sleep. It was one of the things I missed most about being in a relationship.

Maybe that was why: this didn’t feel like a real relationship. Lila wasn’t just Lila: she was Professor Carrington, someone responsible for my grade this semester. There wasn’t a future for us. By necessity, this was strictly sex.

I couldn’t let myself get too close. That’s how I would get hurt.

But man, did I want to.

Class the next day was totally normal. I took the seat next to Jace, giving him a polite fist-bump. Lila strode into class a few minutes later, then began the lecture. She was so sexy, walking around the lecture dais in a skirt and heels. The combination made her ass really pop.

We fucked that ass last night.

It was such a fun, exhilarating thought. So many taboos wrapped into one evening: threesome, anal sex, and my forbidden professor. I glanced over at Jace, who gave me a smile like he was thinking the same thing.

“This wasn’t how I expected the semester to go,” he whispered.

“Me neither. But I’m glad it is.”

Jace grunted, then we both went back to paying attention to the lecture—despite the obvious distraction. And when class was over and we left, she gave each of us a private little smile.

Having a secret was fun.

My next two classes flew by, and then it was time for lunch. I met Jace at our usual table over in the corner.

“The weekend homework seems straightforward,” he said while biting into a chicken sandwich.

“You still want to go over it on Sunday?” I asked.

Jace chewed, thought about it, then swallowed. “Might as well. If it’s too easy for us, we can get an early start on the next section.”

“Sounds like a plan.”

Cam, the other kid who occasionally had lunch with us, dropped into a seat a few feet away. His tray was filled with a random assortment of food items.

“No chicken nuggets today?” Jace asked him.

“Huh?” Cam grunted while staring across the cafeteria.

“You always get three packs of chicken nuggets,” Jace insisted. “You’re switching it up today.”

Cam mumbled something, then began stabbing his fork at his tray without looking. He was still staring at something across the room, but when I glanced over, I didn’t see anything noteworthy.

Jace shrugged, then asked me, “You guys have your regular Friday thing, right?”

“Usually, yeah.”

“I can back off on Fridays. Give you some alone time.”
