“It’s only fun if you go now,” he teases, while warm hands glide up the front of my dress to toy with my breast. “The roaches will never know this was here.” He’s trying so hard that I can’t help but laugh at him.

“Really, Tanner? You know I can’t just leave this here.” Turning in his arms, I grab his jaw and pull his pouting mouth to mine for a quick kiss before stepping out of his grasp. “It’ll be quick.”

Skirting around my fiancé, I head into the kitchen to look for garbage bags under the sink. Bending down to pull several free from the box, a stinging slap across my ass cheek makes me squeal. “Tanner!” The sound of plates and cutlery clang against the sink and by the time I’m standing straight he’s wearing a cocky grin and grabbing more things from the table.

“Sorry, sweetheart. I couldn’t help myself. You know I love that ass.” There’s so much about this man that I love so much, and his playful side is definitely one of them. I should’ve known he would slap my ass the minute I bent over.

“Oh my god,” I groan, while rolling my eyes and walking into the living room grabbing cups and shoving them in the trash bag.

We both work in relative quiet and my mind wanders as the cups lightly bang against one another as I continue to shove more items into it. It’s crazy to think that only several months ago we were on our cruise, getting engaged, and then moving in together. It’s everything I’ve always wanted— maybe not in the order I thought it would happen in, but it is what it is.

The light reflects off my engagement ring and I’m momentarily distracted by its shine. Stopping, I admire the symbol of his love for me, loving the way it glistens in the dim lights of the room. He did a damn good job picking this ring out.

This past Christmas, Tanner and I joined both sets of parents on a Caribbean Cruise. We spent the time doing all sorts of activities both on and off the ship, but my favorite part happened at the airport on the way home. A smile springs to my face at the memory of Tanner tugging me to a stop in the middle of the airport and getting down on one knee.

The last couple days on board the cruise ship, he started to act differently. I chalked it up to an entire week on a boat with our parents, but his mood started to get the best of me too. He had planned this elaborate day, and the way he tells it, you’d think the world was ending at every turn. He tried, and failed, to propose in the way he wanted which had him becoming distant. Then, walking through the airport he’d finally had enough and dropped to his knee.

Grabbing the final cup, I survey our apartment for any stragglers. I can hear Tanner working away on the dishes in the kitchen, so I tie the bag off and step into the hallway, shoving the bag into the chute at the end of the hall.

Shutting the door behind me, I kick off my shoes and flip the lock. This day has been exhausting and I’m secretly happy to have our apartment back to ourselves.“You almost done?” I call out as the sound of a dish being dropped reverberates through the apartment.

“Goddamn it,” Tanner curses, no doubt wrangling and fishing the item from the soapy water. “Yeah, I’m almost done.” Crossing through the dining room, I lean against the door jam and admire my handsome man doing domestic chores.

His biceps flex through the thin fabric of his dress shirt, the sleeve rolled up to his elbows to keep them dry. His face is serious with concentration, so much so that he doesn’t notice me watching him. My eyes trail lower down his back and to his tight ass. Tanner is one handsome man and I’m the lucky girl that gets to call him mine. What can I say? He’s swoonworthy.

“If you keep looking at me like that, these dishes will never get done.” The corner of his mouth pulls up in a crooked grin and his hazel eyes flash to mine, shining with mischief. “You’re the one who’s making us clean up first, remember?”

Looking too good to resist, I walk up to him and wrap my arms around his waist. “Yeah, I know,” I sigh, burying my face between his shoulder blades. As much as I want to stand here holding him, the weight of the day is catching up to me. “I think I’m going to go take a shower.”

“Not without me, you don’t.” I try and fail to make a mad dash out of the kitchen as his wet hands grab me, hooking around my hips and holding me against him. “You’re not going anywhere without me.”

There’s not much fight in me when it comes to Tanner. He’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me, plus he’s the sexiest man I’ve ever met, so even fake running away is a difficult feat.

“Now let’s go get wet.” Without warning, I’m hoisted into his arms as he carries me down the hallway and into the bathroom.

“You’re ridiculous,” I laugh.

His hazel eyes sparkle down at me. “You wouldn’t have me any other way.” He’s right, I wouldn’t.

Stepping into the bathroom, Tanner sets me on the countertop and turns on the faucet before putting the plug of the tub into place.

Looks like I’ll be getting a bath tonight.

While the water runs, Tanner starts to unbutton his shirt, all tan skin and hard-muscle underneath. I could watch him undress all day, every day. Thanks to his job in construction, his body is a work of art. There’s no stopping my eyes from raking up and down his body which, of course, he catches.

He stalks towards me, resting both hands on either side of my thighs. Hot breath dances across my skin as he leans forward, bringing his face to mine leaving me stunned. “We won’t make it into the bath if you keep looking at me like that.” His tongue runs across his bottom lip, his eyes glancing down the top of my white dress.

The dress I chose for our engagement party is flirty and fun. It’s a white babydoll dress with puffed sleeves and a sweetheart neckline. Since the party was at our apartment, I thought dressing up in something fancier wouldn’t fit. My long, auburn hair is pulled to one side, exposing the side of my neck to him.

“Mmmm,” he hums while he kisses my soft skin. “You’re delicious. The best thing I’ve tasted all day.” His hands toy with the hem of my dress, his thumbs caressing my thigh.

This small touch has me panting. “I better be.”

Behind him, the water filling the tub gets closer to the edge, threatening to spill over. “Um, babe? The water—”

Tanner spins around. “Goddammit,” he curses, lunging for the knobs to shut the water off as quickly as possible. “Well, shit.” He turns to me, a cocky grin on his face. “That was close.”

I grin right back at him, unable to hold back my chuckle. “Maybe we should drain it a bit?” Without hesitation, he reaches under the hot water and pulls the plug, the gurgling sound of the tub draining fills the bathroom.
