“Rivern.”My lips try to open, but I force them closed, searching down the bond.
Frantically, my legs push back and forth below me, trying to boost me up.
He doesn’t answer back. Instead, I get that same feeling of pain in my head, this time just above my right eye. I touch the space, almost expecting to find a wound, but the skin is smooth, unblemished.
Where are you both?
I want to scream. But I can’t let the air out of my lungs. It is all I have left.
Here I am, drowning, and neither of my God-bonded mates has anything to say.Goddess.
Looking around, I can’t see Moyrie, either. No twinkling scales. No swishing tale. Nothing.
Everyone has just disappeared.
Madly moving my hands in synchronised movements above my head, my body begins to move slowly. It’s too slow. I’m too slow.Fuck, how do people do this?
Tentatively, something soft moves against my ankle, sending my heart into a frenzy.
It’s justa fish, Dove.
I don’t know if that’s comforting since I’m dying in an endless dark blue.
Proving my statement wrong, the smooth, snake-like thing grasps my ankle and pulls. Once again, I don’t have time to think.
My mouth opens.
Water replaces the air in my lungs.
Everything goes black.

Istandfrommyproneposition on the floor.Fates, that has never happened before. It’s like I exorcised all of my God power. That can’t be right. My power is infinite.
It most likely has something to do with the prison that is my island home, draining me of power, draining me of life, leaving me in a perpetual dark and sour mood.
My Dove keeps things interesting. So does my need for revenge.
Looking down the bond, I find it frayed at the end.Gods be damned!Including myself. If something happens to her, I will burn this damned chunk of dirt to the ground. I don’t care that it was our first creation. We will rebuild elsewhere. I’m going to steal their power. They won’t see it coming.
With her by my side, we will be unstoppable.
Moving out past the stained glass windows showcasing my beasts, I look out on the barren plane of my island.
I find Saff, flaming her half-cracked egg.
With my eyes glued to the flames, I can only hope that what I gave my pet was enough for her to come back to me.

Isthisreal?Ordid I drown back in the water under the cage?I’ve likely drowned because this sight is nothing I’ve seen before. Then again, she is the Seraph. Taming snakes is one thing, but taming a kraken is beyond my understanding—especially a kraken from legends past. A beast we were told was gone. She did somehow tame Saff,I remind myself.
Dove’s small body, with her thin, white garments still covering her breasts and lower half, is draped haphazardly over a thick kraken tentacle as it slumbers, submerged in a shallow rock pool on anisland? It’s dark in this new cave we’ve been dragged into, a bitsmaller than the last one we were caged in. There’s a shimmering around the rocks above. Water encases us from all sides. My only guess is that this must be the kraken’s nest.
