The young ones happily leaned against her.
Nelwyn smiled as he ate. “You seem to have admirers.”
“They are girls, so don’t worry about it.”
Borwyn looked at the cats and smiled. “They are young.”
“Yes. The plan is going to be to move some males from a large cat rescue out here, and the ladies will have to show them how to use the manners of the island.”
She kept eating and then offered some shredded chicken to the teen kittens. The ladies delicately took the meat with lovely manners.
She looked at Borwyn. “So, have you free-run in a jungle before?”
“No, but I am looking forward to a practice session if you will be generous.”
“Tomorrow. I don’t want to try to climb on a full stomach.”
Nelwyn chuckled. “Tomorrow. Ten in the morning?”
She groaned. “You are harshing my first moments on the island, but sure.”
Borwyn smiled. “We promise to give you a rub down after you show us the pulse of the island.”
Moira looked at him. “Fine, but don’t get fresh.”
A familiar face with her own pregnancy bump knelt down. “Nice to see you again, Mimi.”
“Serin! Congratulations. Who is the father?”
“Deno. Spirit of the island.”
Moira looked at the Wyns. “This lady is Serin, life of the islands. Deno is the spirit of the islands, and Kekoa is the bedrock of this island in particular. Oh, this is Nelwyn and Borwyn. Nelwyn is my boss. Was my boss, and Borwyn has a garage but is looking into boat repair.”
Serin grinned, talking to Borwyn about a few island-owned businesses on the shore that were up for grabs near a sheltered cove. He leaned forward with interest and asked about environmental polices and means of moving oil and gas to the repair depot.
Moira smiled and got up, walking over to Alohi. “So, squirt, how are you feeling about all the changes?”
“Mimi?”
“Nice guess.”
He snorted. “You are the only person who ever called me squirt.”
“I thought it was a funny play on words.”
Alohi got to his feet, and Moira stood, two inches taller than him. “Heh. Short.”
He hugged her. “Funny. Are your ears sensitive?”
She leaned away from his hand. “Yes!”
Moira frowned. “Wait. Narro is part of your grouping. You should know about the ears.”
“He scares me a little.”
“Good. You are far too eager to bully Haravin. I am guessing Narro keeps you from getting all the attention all the time.”
Alohi blushed. “I hate that you know that.”
