“Show me,” he commands.
Parting my legs under the heat of his stare is like nothing else. I feel like a goddess.
“Touch yourself. It’s my turn to watch.”
My eyes find his, and my fingers obey. An achingly tight nipple caressed and tweaked, while the other glides between folds sticky with him.
My eyelids drift closed as the familiar need sneaks in and builds. Circling my clit, I give it a pinch and then rub when the electric tingle begins.
I’ve lost minutes when I open my eyes to him crawling on the bed and settling between my legs.
“Is it okay if we never leave this bed?” he asks, before placing a kiss between my breasts. "Because I want to live inside you, Soph.”
twenty-four
Salad, spaghetti and meatballs, and breadsticks are spread out across the top of the dresser like a buffet when I answer the knock at the door. Jesse and Hannah stand together, a plastic bag in each hand.
Hannah raises one as she enters. “We brought dessert.”
“And drinks,” Jesse says, following behind.
“Get that away from me.” Hannah still looks a little green.
I make room on the little coffee table in front of the love seat, and they empty the bags.
“It’s officially a feast,” Ever says, as he surveys the spread from behind me, looking over my shoulder.
Hannah and I load up our plates first at the guys’ insistence and plop down on the love seat next to each other. She looks rested on the surface but shattered underneath.
Jesse slides the chair from the desk over, so he’s sitting across from us, and Ever sits on the floor next to him with his back against the bed.
Everyone grabs a beer, except Hannah, who’s opted for a Red Bull.
I’ve noticed Hannah is the type of person who’s uncomfortable with silence, so she initiates small talk while we eat. Everyone indulges her, even Ever, because we all feel the stress of what’s to come bearing down.
After Ever and Jesse go back for seconds, and Jesse goes back for thirds, all that remains is the box of cupcakes Hannah brought, a few beers, and an unopened bottle of spiced rum.
I eye the rum. “No mixer, you sadistic fiend?”
Jesse grabs it and unscrews the lid. I watch his Adam’s apple bob twice as he drinks straight from the bottle, before handing it to Ever.
Ever eyes it reluctantly. “The last time I hung out with the Captain, he was kind of an asshole.”
Jesse laughs but moves to stand. “I’ll go get a few Cokes from the vending machine.”
Ever shakes his head and tips it back, but cringes as he swallows. “Still an asshole. I’ll stick to beer.”
He offers the bottle to me. I usually don’t like liquor straight, but I take a sip. “Yeah, no, I’m gonna need a Coke to go with this.” I rise before Jesse can. “Anyone else want anything?”
When I return with an armful of sodas, the deeper discussion is underway.
“I talked to Ben’s rep at the label a few hours ago. They’ve scrapped the project. The rest of the tour’s been cancelled. And they’ve arranged for the RV to be picked up from the repair shop tomorrow. The company is nationwide, so they agreed to take the return early with only a nominal cancellation fee.”
After mixing a drink that doesn’t taste like it could power my car, I look around for a place to sit because there was some rearranging while I was gone. Jesse’s sitting where I was on the love seat, and Ever’s sitting on the bed against the padded headboard. He reaches out a hand to me and spreads his legswhile he’s talking. “Do you have anything left in the RV? I can drive you there in the morning.”
Settling in with my back against his chest, a hand comes to rest on my outer thigh, and though everything in me buzzes at the contact, it’s not lost on me how natural it all feels. Like we’ve done this a hundred times, in a hundred different rooms, in a hundred different towns. I’m thankful that Hannah and Jesse aren’t making this weird for us. We’ve all seen sides of each other, especially in the past twenty-four hours, that negate judgment.
Hannah takes a sip from the can in her hand and then shakes her head. “No, all of my equipment is in your van, and all my other stuff is in the suitcase in my room.”
