“O, thewinds had died,

thebilge ran low,

and wehad naught but sand in tow.

We’dlost our teeth,

we’dburned our eyes,

andwe’d seen naught but sand and skies

Thehands made cry,

‘thehull is lost!’

And thecapt would shout, ‘fuck the cost!’”

Hervoice echoed over sand, carried high by the ubiquitous breeze of the desert.Inthe moment, her pirate shanty seemed to travel across the entire length of thetomb.

“Hesaid, ‘douse the mains,

tiltthe prow!

We’llcut her through like a bleedin’ sow!

Theropes ain’t cut,

the sailsain’t gone

And weneed naught but steel and brawn!

And thecrew replied,

‘fuckthe moors,

andfuck the land!

Andfuck them all by the blasted sand!

We needno prize,

we needno shore

And wedamn sure got no want for more!’”

Zariacupped her hands around her muzzle, sharpening the song, skipping over to theedge of the jagged crater. She sang so loudly her voice frayed at the edge.

“Hey,hey!Away!

We beatthe sand,

we beatthe squall!

And thecaptain says we’re standing tall!

Hey,hey!Away!”

Isaaccleared his throat.
