Kreed had been acting really fucking weird since the hospital. Any time I made a comment about destroying his marriage or wanting to fuck him or being determined to make him mine, he just… rolled with it. Sure, he fired back at me, but he didn’t seem freaked out any longer, and he wasn’t being adamant about me being his stepson or how it was wrong.
It had me on edge because what the hell was he planning?
If he was preparing to cut ties with me, then fine. He wouldn’t be the first person to turn their back on me, and he certainly wouldn’t be the last. But Kreed wasn’t that kind of person. He didn’t just drop someone from his life because they were difficult. I mean—fuck. Look how long he’d been married to Bonnie, and she was a horrible example of a human being.
I rinsed off my plate then stuck it in the dishwasher, along with the butter knife and fork I’d used to eat my waffle. Kreed had separated from me as soon as we got home, no doubt holed up in his office because I hadn’t seen him go upstairs to his room at all. Him being in his office on a Sunday was weird as fuck, since he usually made sure he took Sundays off, but then again, he was probably doing whatever he could to avoid me.
Maybe. I didn’t truly know because I couldn’t make sense of his damn behavior lately.
Corvus cleared his throat as he walked into the kitchen. I arched a brow at him and leaned back against the counter, crossing my arms over my chest. He made his way to the fridge, and I watched, waiting for him to say something because Corvus always had something to say.
“You feeling any better?” Corvus asked as he closed the fridge, a water in his hand. “I tried asking Kreed, but I don’t think he heard me because he didn’t stop his mission to get to his office.”
I snorted. So, I was right. He was holing himself up in his office. Typical fucking coward. He had to know working wouldn’t stop me. When I got fixated on something, I stopped at nothing until I had it. And this… thing with him was more than a fixation. It was a fucking obsession. I had to have him.
Fuck society. Fuck the rest of the world. Fuck his little closet. And fuck my bitch of a mother.
“A bit,” I answered. “Got a lot of meds from the hospital. They seem to be helping. If nothing else, they’re suppressing my symptoms.” I ran my eyes over him, taking in the clothes I knew he’d been wearing yesterday. “Where have you been?”
He smirked. “Your mom’s in town. She was pissed Kreed wasn’t home because he locked her credit card.”
I couldn’t stop the widening of my eyes even if I wanted. What the fuck? Kreed intentionally gave her money to spend to keep her out of his hair and away from me. Sure, she’d clearly spent an awful amount of money, but I still couldn’t see him locking her card.
“I… distracted her. The last thing you needed was her barging up into that hospital and making shit a lot worse on you.”
I ignored his last statement because I didn’t want to think about that fucking hospital any longer.
“You distracted her?” I teased, arching a brow at him.
He nodded. “Your mom’s a grade-A fucking bitch, bro, but she’s got pretty good pussy. Rides dick like a porn star. Don’t understand why she never went into the industry.”
I screwed up my nose in distaste. “Fucking gross, dude.”
He snorted a laugh.
“But going into the industry requires her to work, even if she’s just doing whatever she normally does anyway. She wants easy money—like Kreed.”
“What about me?” Kreed grunted as he strode into the kitchen. He noticed the empty bar then looked at me. “You finish your waffle?”
I nodded.
“Finished the waffle.” I lifted my shirt, revealing my flat stomach and the light dusting of hair that traveled from my bellybutton and into the waistband of my sweatpants. Kreed’s eyes locked on my bare skin, and he swallowed thickly, his cheeks flushing pink. I smirked.
Got you, baby. I patted my belly “Not gonna waste away any time soon.”
Kreed finally ripped his eyes from my abdomen and looked at Corvus. “Did you really fuck my wife?”
Corvus nodded.
“Mm-hmm. She’s a pretty good fuck, man. Landed yourself a good one,” he added, laying it on thick.
Kreed didn’t even flinch. “I wouldn’t know. Haven’t ever touched her.” He strode toward the pantry and opened the door, walking inside.
Corvus looked at me, arching a brow. I shrugged one shoulder. I’d had suspicions they’d never fucked. It was actually nice—and a weight off my shoulders—to know for sure he’d never touched Bonnie.
