I stop at the door and reach for the handle, finding it unlocked when I turn it.

Pushing the door inward, I step inside.

Chapter Seventy-Nine

Robin

Ihear him, before I see him. The grumbling snores of the man passed out face down on my couch are loud and deep. It’s almost like he’s a cat, purring with contentment, even if his body is angled awkwardly and looks a lot more like the pose of a chalk-drawing in a detective show than a regular comfortable sleeping position.

It takes me a minute to notice he’s wearing only a skin-tight pair of underwear.

I blink as my eyes move over his body, taking in every detail.

He’s all muscle, and that’s obvious, even from behind.

My face warms when I realize I’m staring.

I shouldn’t be standing here watching him sleep.

I go into my bedroom, and I can see from the open bathroom door that he washed his clothes and hung them over the towel rails to dry. He even put towels on the floor underneath.

It feels kind of ironic that I was washing laundry all day while he needed his clothes washed.

I change from my work clothing into a pair of jeans and a soft grey sweater, but I leave my hair in the up-do Katie gave me earlier. It still looks good, and I know if I take the clips out, I’ll have kinks in weird places that I can’t do anything about.

When I’m ready, and slipping my feet into my sneakers, I can still hear Falcon snoring in the main room of the suite. I don’t want to wake him. He was up all night, and he needs the rest. But I could make him a little more comfortable, so I peel the sheets off my bed, bundling them up in my arms.

Once I step out of the bedroom and approach the couch, I’m kind of afraid I might wake him, but even when I place the sheets over his body, Falcon remains in a deep state of slumber.

I arrange the material to cover him from his shoulders to his feet.

“Sweet dreams, Falcon.”

I place a soft kiss on his temple before I straighten and move back, leaving him to rest.

After a second of hesitation, I take his damp clothes from the bathroom, and I leave the suite.

I have a little time before I need to meet Shayne in the gardens.

The least I can do for Falcon is have his clothes properly washed.

Chapter Eighty

Shayne

Out of all of Shadow’s crazy plans, his latest might be the most insane thing I’ve ever heard. He was quick to go over the main points before we got to his suite, where his male Beta then joined us for a tour of the building. I barely got the chance to think about Shadow’s offer before we had to stop talking about it.

It’s clearly not something he’s discussed with anyone else.

I doubt his female Beta will like it, and she’s the one who would have to officially sign off on it, so it might be a non-starter, no matter how I decide to feel about it.

I’ll talk to Falcon the first chance I get anyway, but I’m sure he’ll draw the same conclusion.

“It looks like your mate is waiting for you,” Shadow teases, as we approach a glass door.

“Uh, what?” I ask, not sure what he’s talking about.

I don’t expect Pete’s brash British voice to answer my question, but he does seem to like to butt in to conversations.
