“What about tomorrow?” Shayne asks.

Jay puts his hand on my shoulder. “Don’t get overexcited.”

I glance at him, and I try to slow my racing thoughts.

He’s right. I don’t know what’s happening.

Neither of us know until Shayne tells us.

“Okay,” he says. “I’ll speak to you in the morning.”

He puts his phone back into his pocket and I blurt out, “Well?”

“Well, it looks like we might have a longer wait to meet Robin.”

My heart sinks as he gives us a shrug.

“Falcon found a security breach. Lana told him to leave, but he investigated the exterior of the fence himself and came up with a plan that he got her to agree with. He’s going to be out there all night, waiting to catch an intruder. Lana’s not going to let anyone else visit until she’s sure they’ve caught whoever’s sneaking around.”

“But doesn’t that mean the academy isn’t really safe for Robin?”

He sighs. “Lana’s her guardian right now. She’s not going to let us take Robin away. They have a lot of security at the academy. I’m sure they’re keeping everyone as safe as they can.”

“Clearly, that’s not safe enough,” Jay mutters.

“There’s not much we can do about it,” Shayne admits.

“There has to be something!”

He gives me a wry smile. “I wish there was, but I think all we can do right now, is wait.”

My already stretched patience feels like it could snap into pieces.

I have a new true mate out there, she’s in a place that isn’t completely safe, and now I don’t know what’s happening at the academy and I have no idea when I might get to meet her.

Groaning, I move over to the nearest couch and lay down on my stomach.

I hope Falcon knows what he’s doing.

His plan had better work.

Chapter Sixty-Three

Falcon

The trail of footprints I found aren’t that hard to see when I shine my phone’s flashlight on them, but I had to quit doing that once I found out where they trailed off to. It’s gotten dark since I followed them back to a house I was able to identify as being owned by Warren Corvina.

The house looked empty, but that doesn’t mean someone isn’t inside.

The footprints got hard to follow once I got to the house.

It was too hard to tell if they made it to the front door, the back, or one of the windows.

It’s also possible that this is just where they parked a car.

There’s room for a few vehicles to park out front of the house, and there’s a dirt path that leads out to the road.

I know Lana isn’t going to like this information, even before I take my phone back out of my pocket to make the call to the academy.
