Sighing softly as we idle in the suddenly heavy flow of traffic, Falcon turns to me.

“I spent the last three weeks going crazy over the whole thing with Robin. I feel better knowing there was a reason I couldn’t let go.”

“So, it’s not because we have another mate to claim?”

He laughs. “That could have something to do with it too.”

“I should think so. We have another true mate.”

“I’m still a little shocked about that,” he admits. “I should have realized what it meant when I couldn’t let it go, but I had no damn idea. The thought didn’t even cross my mind.”

“Emotions were running high. You weren’t in the best place to figure things out.”

He nods slowly before he looks back at the traffic.

It’s finally starting to move.

“You think I should tell Shadow what we’re doing?” I ask.

“He’s your brother,” Falcon reminds me. “You know him best.”

“He hasn’t told anyone that Robin’s our mate.” I know that without having to ask. “He won’t say anything until I tell him it’s okay.”

“Sure,” Falcon says, “But if he suddenly knows his brother who he hasn’t seen in years is coming to the city to stay he won’t get excited at all?”

“I guess I’ll wait until after we call the academy.”

Shadow might be good at keeping a secret when it matters, but he’s also an Omega.

He’s ruled by his emotions, and that’s a lot harder to hide than a piece of information.

I’m not sure how Lana would take it if she found out we told Shadow before we called her.

She might be Shadow’s mate, but that doesn’t mean she’ll automatically take our side.

She seems protective of Robin. That’s a good thing in general, but it could make it harder to get a yes when we ask to visit her. I’m already wondering if our open and honest approach might blow up in our faces.

I know Falcon wants to tell Lana the truth, and he wants to be open with Robin, too.

In theory, I like that idea.

In practice, it feels a little risky, and that’s why I want to send Shadow a message so badly.

He knows what Lana’s like. He knows how she’ll take this news.

He might be able to help us put it into the right words.

I try to push these thoughts out of my head while we’re still on our way to the city.

They’re only going to drive me crazy while I wait for the chance to text Shadow.

It’s all going to be fine.

You’ll get there and call.

If Lana is against letting you all visit Robin, you can ask Shadow for help.

It’s kind of ironic. For once in our lives, I’m the one stewing in worry while Falcon doesn’t appear have a care in the world.
