A moan escaped my lips while I fought the urge to follow him.

“As much as I would love to join you, I really have to go. Why don’t I make breakfast for you? I’ll use the shower in the guest bedroom,” I offered.

“Only if you can make chocolate chip pancakes,” he replied.

“I can do that.”

After he smacked my ass, he got out of bed.

Eventually, I got up and went to the guest bathroom. After my shower, I made my way to the kitchen. I planned to cook chocolate chip pancakes, bacon, and eggs. Micah had a fancy espresso machine. I left those things to the trained baristas. All I needed was a simple coffee pot to get my day going, so he would be on coffee duty when he made his way down.

After going through his fully stocked fridge and pantry, I grabbed everything I needed. While I whisked together the wet and dry ingredients for the batter, Micah appeared, walked over to me, wrapped his arms around my waist, and placed several kisses all over my neck.

“You’re welcome to start my mornings off like this anytime,” he teased.

I giggled as I continued to mix.

“Wait. Are you making pancakes from scratch?” he asked.

“Yes. Is something wrong? You don’t have any allergies, do you?” I inquired.

“No allergies. I’m just impressed. A city girl like you making things from scratch?” he joked.

“Keep it up. You’re about to be hungry,” I teased. His hard dick was on my back. “And keep that thing to yourself. My poor honey pot is tired,” I said.

Micah backed away from me with his arms in the air as if he was surrendering. “Since you’re handling the food. Would you like a cup of espresso?” he asked.

“Please, I was waiting for you to work this thing. Why do you need this fancy machine? Nothing beats a good ole coffee pot,” I said.

“You’ll change your tune once I make you this espresso,” he assured me.

I warmed the skillet for the pancakes while Micah was busy with his espresso machine. When he turned the machine on, the bell rang. Micah left the kitchen to answer it. When he did, I heard Iris.

“I’ve been calling you all night. Why aren’t you answering your phone?” she questioned.

“I’m busy. Is everything okay with Violet?” Micah inquired.

“Violet is fine, Micah. Calm down. I need some money,” she replied.

Micah took a long pause before he responded. “Money for? I gave you money for the month already.”

”I was waiting on some money, but it didn’t come through. My lights are about to get cut off,” she admitted.

Micah let out a deep sigh just as the espresso machine finished brewing. He left Iris standing in the living room and walked back into the kitchen, but Iris was right on his heels.

“So this is why you were too busy to answer my calls!” Iris barked.

“In case you didn’t realize, you entered my home. I know you see Harley, so you should acknowledge her. Especially since you’re here interrupting our morning,” he demanded.

Iris looked at me and rolled her eyes. I didn’t care if she spoke to me or not. Micah always made their co-parenting situation seem like it was smooth. The situation seemed different than what he described. I wondered how often she showed up unannounced. Micah was an easy-going guy, so I could see Iris trying to take advantage of him. If that was their usual dynamic, it would need to change. Iris barging into his home and making requests for money would need to come to a halt.

“Good morning, Harley,” Iris mumbled.

“Good morning,” I replied.

“How much money do you need, Iris?” Micah asked her.

“I would rather not discuss this in front of her,” Iris responded.
