“Sorry…” he panted. “Meant to ask… if should pull out… but you… fuck… you…” He groaned and buried his face in her neck, soaking up the sensation of her slippery, hot skin against his own overheated body. “I lose my mind with you.”
“I’ll always help you find it.”
The Hair Envy is Real
Eventually, Malachi lifted himself and hurried to her bathroom for a warm cloth to help her clean up. He gently wiped her thighs and fussed over her to the point she laughed. Tilting his head, he tried to figure out what was funny. Was after-care not something he was supposed to do? He’d never done it before, so maybe he wasn’t doing it right. The cloth fell from his fingers as it hit him. He’d never done this before. With anyone. In two centuries. But he hadn’t hesitated here. Her amused chuckle brought him back to the present. “What?” he demanded, turning his palms up.
“You’re so cute… I didn’t know you had this whole mother hen side. It’s sweet. And unexpected. I like it.”
“Oh.” He laughed ruefully. “Yeah, I might be going overboard here, but I want to take care of you and make sure you’re okay. I’ve never done this part before. Am I doing it wrong?”
Shaking her head, she sat up and kissed him gently. “No, you’re doing it just right. Lay down, I’ll finish and be right back.” She rose from the bed like a goddess emerging from the sea and sauntered to the bathroom.
Throat tightening at the sight, Malachi groaned and flopped back on the bed. Stretching his arms up over his head, he relaxed and took stock of how he felt. At peace. Content. Fulfilled. He smiled softly and thought about the fact that he’d never felt these things after sex before. Physically relaxed, yes, but never in his heart or satisfied the way he was now. The mattress dipped as Kelly crawled over to him, lowering her body next to his before she wrapped her arm and leg around him the way she did when she slept. Snuggling her head on his chest, she sighed happily and traced her fingers over his stomach.
Slowly, Malachi lowered his arms and pulled her tightly to him. “Kelly, that was incredible.” He gently kissed the top of her head.
“Youwere incredible,” she corrected quietly. “And you didn’t even use your powers on me. I… uh… I hope that wasn’t boring for you. I’m probably not as exciting as another demon would be.”
Malachi froze, grimacing. It appeared they were going to have that discussion now. “Kelly, don’t say that. You were fantastic. When you first slid down on me, I had to picture death threats from my former commander to keep from exploding like a teenager.” He chuckled at her snort of disbelief. “I know you might think my life before was just a demonic orgy of sorts…” He glanced down, and his chest tightened at her small, nervous nod. Sighing, he continued, “I get it, I’m part incubus, so yeah, sex demon. But that’s not all I am. My mother was a general in the fifth ward. She was a fierce warrior and amazing strategist. I look like my father, but I actually took after her more. I concentrated my powers on fighting and training to command legions. But looking like I do made it much harder for me. Remember, the uglier the better for demons, so I was constantly being underestimated.”
Angling his body so he could face her better, he stared into her soft eyes, smiling gently at the anxious expression that was forcing her lips intothe cutest bow. He couldn’t help leaning down and kissing her until she relaxed. “Not a virgin by any means, but also not a complete party demon. Kelly, full disclosure, I’m two hundred sixty-seven years old. So yeah, my list is longer, but in all that time, I’ve never been with anyone I cared about. Because I didn’t care before, it’s just not something I even considered. I care about you, and that made it feel incredible. I didn’t even need my incubus power because you turned me on that much.” Pressing his still hard cock against her hip, he added, “You always do,” before rolling her on her back.
Hovering over her, he smiled gently as her lashes fluttered in surprise. “Kelly, this is because ofyou. No one else turns me on like this. One snap of my fingers and I could have anyone I wanted. But I don’t have to because the only one I want, by some miracle, wants me back.” Parting her thighs, he slid back into her, wrenching a gasp from her throat as her shoulders came off the bed and her fingers dug into his hips.
“Malachi!” she cried out, panting as he kept up his slow, deep thrusting.
Whispering dirty, unhinged things in her ear, he continued to torment her with his lazy pace, grinning harder as she begged him to go faster, harder. Finally, she grabbed his hair and yanked him closer.
“I swear if you don’t fuck me harder right now, I’m taking you to the vet and paying them to use the biggest thermometer they have!” she snapped.
“I love it when you talk dirty,” he replied before complying with her demand, taking her with a feral abandon. This time, he let some of his dark shadows slip out and around her, coating her skin and stroking her everywhere. He had them tweak her nipples and circle her clit, slipping inside with each snap of his hips, adding to the fullness of their joining. Moments later, she was pulsing around him, screaming her release as he watched, mesmerized by the vision of her coming undone beneath him. It quickly brought his own climax, even harder than the first, and he emptied himself once more, a hoarse cry slipping out as his body trembled.
Flopping next to her, he groaned. “You’re on your own for the cleanup duty this time, dirty girl. You wore me out. Not sorry about the mess.”
A quick burst of laughter erupted from her, and she clapped a hand over her mouth before running to the bathroom, the mix of their release running down her legs. When she came back, she was still smiling as she dropped down next to him. “I swear I don’t know why I put up with you.”
Grabbing her waist and pulling her back to his chest, he wrapped himself around her. “It’s the hair,” he murmured, nuzzling the back of her neck. “You’re obsessed with my hair. It’s longer than yours, so you have hair envy. Admit it.”
Snorting in disgust, she shook her head. “It’s not envy; I like my hair short. I like yours because it’s so pretty. But that’s not the only thing I like about you.” She was quiet for a moment, then in a smaller voice added, “Thank you, Malachi, for what you said earlier. I was a little in my head about it. I want to be enough for you, even after you’ve seen and done so much. I just have my small world here and… I don’t want you to get bored.”
“Never,” he insisted. “My world changed for the better when you came into my life. The day I met you, my punishment became a gift. I know it sounds cliché, but you really are the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
“Same,” she replied, turning her head to smile back at him over her shoulder.
Taking advantage of the angle, he kissed her again. As they gazed at each other, he suddenly grinned. “I’m glad you didn’t know you were an angel when you first met me. Scared the shit out of me. Remember how I jumped back in the corner, and you thought I was too timid?” At her amused nod, he continued, “I could see your halo, so I knew you were at least part angel and that you were going to clock to what I was and smite me right there in that cage.”
Laughing now, she shook her head. “I remember, and when I said you were scared, you got mad and started barking like you were yelling at me. It intrigued me, and I had already decided I liked you.” She turned to face him and trailed her fingers down his chest. “Hey… when you used to howl along with me to the radio, were you singing or was that a commentary on my vocal abilities?” Glaring, she poked him in the stomach.
“Singing along, I promise!” He batted his lashes innocently. “Since we’re being honest here, when did you truly suspect I wasn’t a dog?”
She was silent for a long moment. “Almost from the beginning. There was something about you that was different. The way you would respond, and I could tell you understood everything I said. At first, I wondered if it was just some incredible training. Then I suspected it was so much more, but I guess I was being selfish and didn’t want to look too hard. I enjoyed your company and your keeping me in check if I got too silly. I should have said something sooner. I’m sorry I didn’t, but I knew there was… something. Of course, now we know what it is, but I’m going to miss having a K-9 partner.”
The hand that was lightly stroking her side stilled, and Malachi frowned, confused. “Miss it? Why would you miss it? I’m not going anywhere.”
Pursing her lips, she scrunched her nose, and shook her head. “Mal, you aren’t a real dog. I can’t keep treating you like one. I know you were having fun. But…” she trailed off as he placed a finger over her lips.
“Kelly, it’s more than fun. I need to be able to protect you, and I can’t do that if you’re at work for hours without me. I can’t exactly show up as Evan and be your human partner; I don’t have the necessary certifications to be an officer. Even if I did, there’s no guarantee I’d be assigned to you. I really don’t mind being the dog if it means I get to keep you safe and spend time with you. Think of it as my job, and that’s my uniform, the same way you wear yours. Please, Kelly. We’re good together, and I help you. It helpsme keep on the path of good to support your fight for justice. That may sound corny, but it really does work. And…”
