You like the thought of that.

The smugness got Conrad laughing. “Remember, payback can be a bitch.”

“I’m willing to risk it.” A cat’s tongue licked up his ass cheek, and Kylo’s panther’s teeth grazed his butt.

A shiver of expectation ran through him, only for him to moan in complaint when Kylo chuckled, and soapy hands replaced the tongue and fangs. “You’re not playing fair!” he growled.

“Yes, I am.” Fingers roamed over his balls and cupped them, rolling them, pulling a whine from Conrad. “See, you like my hands on you.”

He couldn’t argue. Kylo strung out the anticipation until Conrad didn’t know what would come next as he continued to wash away the trauma of the day.

When Kylo finally finished in the same position, on his knees in front of Conrad, his cock was so hard, he wasn’t sure he wouldn’t blow if Kylo so much as blew on his over-sensitive cock.

When Kylo finally allowed him to take his hands off the wall, when Kylo turned him, they lay at his sides, balled tightly, his fingernails digging into his flesh to stop himself from reaching out. Heavy-lidded eyes stared at the man at his feet. Water flattened the dark hair to his skull. The masculine beauty was breathtaking, as his features were stark with controlled desire.

“You’re projecting,” he murmured as he came forward, and Conrad found himself flat against the tiled wall, trying to escape the intent he felt coming from Kylo, to see if he could make him come with just his breath.

“Fuck,” he cried, his hips jerking as hot, moist breath drifted over the head of his cock.

His balls tightened and Kylo slid a hand around the base of his cock and pointed it towards the water spray, only to shield it with his head as he blew once more. Then he pulled back to allow the hot breath to be followed by the shower spray.

Conrad’s head hit the tile with a thud. He tried to brace himself as his body juddered hard enough his legs gave way at the force of the cum spraying into Kylo’s face as he came forward, lips open. The sight, sounds, smells, and feel of his tongue catching the cum from the end of his cock was too much. He collapsed against Kylo, whose hands held his hip bones and pressed him to the wall, still not stopping.

Spent, he could do nothing to help Kylo, who manhandled him from the shower. He found himself braced against the cold porcelain sink, the room steamy from the shower a sharp contrast. Held there with one hand, Kylo grabbed towels to gently dry Conrad.

On the bed minutes later, Conrad could barely keep his eyes open. His release exhausted him and had taken the pent up rage with it.

Kylo tucked covers around him. “Sleep.”

“With you,” he mumbled sleepily.

“Yes, I just need to wash myself.” He kissed the top of Conrad’s head. “I’ll only be five minutes, I promise.”

“S’okay,” he answered, floating in that place between sleep and wakefulness, “I’ll wait for you.”

He was pretty sure he heard Kylo’s laugh before the sounds of splashing water came from the bathroom.

Conrad fought the darkness when it would come with nightmares.Kylo will protect me.He clung to the thought and refused to let sleep take him.

When the bed dipped minutes later, and the room turned to darkness, Conrad whimpered.

A warm, freshly scented body curled around him, and Conrad snuggled in. “You’ll protect me from the ghosts, won’t you?” His voice was barely a whisper as he revealed his vulnerability.

“Always.” An arm came over his waist and reached for a hand, intertwining their fingers together. “You hold on to me, and we’ll protect each other.”

Chapter Twenty-Four

Kylo

Plans were laid out over breakfast. Kylo determined his family would know what he and Conrad were doing and equally determined that the people who meant the most to him would be safe. He kept a wary eye on his mate. Something he must’ve done the night before had worked—or maybe it was all part of Conrad’s training. He watched his mate being gently teased by his mom, as though it was just another day.

“Are you sure about this?” Mom asked as they went to leave for the office. “You’re painting a target that can’t be missed on those broad shoulders of yours.”

“We can’t keep living in fear.” Kylo kissed his mom’s cheek. “The sooner this is done, the sooner Conrad and I can go house hunting.”

His mom’s eyes gleamed. “You know I’ll want to help with that. In fact, I might know the perfect place already.”

Kylo groaned, but it was good natured. He wouldn’t put it past his mom to visit the neighbors, who lived about half a mile down the road and offer to buy them out, just so he and Conrad could be close by. “We’ll talk about it when this business with Selina is over,” he promised as he and Conrad made for the door.
