“Yep, she is.” Gunner got up, too, walked to me and held out his hand. “Come with me sweetheart. Message me when dinner is ready.”

He pulled me up and then dragged me out of the room.

“Gunner, where are we going?” I asked, running behind him to keep up. When he reached the stairs and started to climb them I tugged on his hand. “We can’t, everyone is downstairs. Where’s Bertie, is she in her room?”

Gunner chuckled and paused on the landing. “I told you last night, that will only happen when I have time to enjoy devouring you without interruption.”

Damn it. I now had wet panties. I nodded and let him lead me to his room. As soon as we were inside he pushed me against the cool wall and kicked the heavy oak door shut behind him. Instantly his mouth was on mine and his hand was pulling my shirt from the waistband of my suit pants. His callused hand snaked up along my ribs until his thumb found my nipple.

“Gunner,” his name from my lips was breathy.

“Ssh, less talking, more kissing.”

And God did he kiss me. It was hot and sultry as he pressed his erection against my core. His tongue pushing in and out in time with the slow strokes over my nipples. As he pushed against me I thrust my hips forward, aching for any connection that might help to detonate the orgasm building inside of me.

As my fingers tugged at the ends of Gunner’s hair, I nipped on his bottom lip. He groaned and I was sure I’d felt him go hard in his pants. Nice dress pants that he’d changed into for the meeting. Dress pants that were thinner than his jeans so I could feel every inch of him.

Gunner’s fingers cupped my breast as his thumb and forefinger replaced the stroking with a delicious pinch.

“You think maybe you can come back to my house after dinner?” I asked as his mouth went to my neck.

“Yeah, I reckon so. Let’s hope Nash doesn’t take too much longer because I’m starved.” He pushed his hips harder against me and I wondered whether I could wait that long. Maybe we should skip dinner and just go back to my place now.

Gunner took the decision from me, though, and pulled away, adjusting himself as he breathed deeply. “We should stop before I do something I might regret.”

“You’d regret railing me against this wall?” I asked, touching a fingertip to my swollen lips.

“Never, but it would have to be quick and that I would regret. Plus, I need to change out of these damn pants back into my jeans.”

“What was that incredible kiss in aid of anyway? Why pull me from the room like your life depended on kissing me.”

His deep brown eyes became hooded as he stared at me, gently brushing my hair from my eyes. “Because I needed to kiss you. You were incredible today, both in the meeting and downstairs. Especially downstairs, getting us to see another option regarding Jenkins’ offer. Besides which,” he said, his eyes grazing lazily over my body, “you look fucking hot in that pants suit.”

“I’m glad I could help.” Looking down at the ground, feeling embarrassed, I said, “I liked being a part of the team.”

“I like that, too. A hell of a lot.”

When he dropped another kiss to my already puffy lips, I missed a breath as it struck me how great it would be being a full time member of Team Miller.

Chapter 30

Adore You – Harry Styles

Gunner

I’d been to Cassidy’s apartment once before when I’d picked her up for our date, but I hadn’t been past the doorway. The small living room was exactly what I’d imagined, comfortable and lived-in with overflowing bookshelves lining one wall. An overstuffed armchair sat by the window with a reading lamp and a small table that held a stack of books with colorful bookmarks poking out from various pages.

“Make yourself comfortable,” she said, slipping off her shoes by the door. “Can I get you something to drink?”

“I’m good.” I watched her move through the space, noting how she belonged there among the walls filled with the stories she loved.

She caught me staring and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “What?”

“Just looking,” I said, stepping closer. “Your place suits you.”

“Small and cluttered?” she laughed and looked up at me. “And you’re entirely too big for it

“I don’t know, I think I kind of fit in perfectly.” I cupped her face and ran my thumb over the apple of her cheek. “I meant that it’s warm,” I corrected, dropping my hand to link our fingers together. “Intelligent. Inviting.”
