“This is incredible,” I said, cutting into the most delicious chicken I'd ever tasted.

“You're incredible,” he replied, reaching across to brush his thumb across my knuckles. “I love watching you so relaxed.”

“I think maybe the orgasm helped.”

“Two orgasm’s,” he corrected. “Don’t forget the shower.”

How could I forget how he’d used the shower head to get me off taking my nipples into his mouth and sucking them to the point of painful pleasure.

“Sorry two.” I leaned across the divide of the table and kissed him. “Thank you, for everything.”

“My fucking pleasure Brownie,” he replied, his voice a gravelly rasp.

“Okay,” I said, knowing if we didn’t move on we would end up leaving our meal and missing dessert. “Tell me about Petey the bull.”

We shared dessert, a decadent chocolate one with whipped cream, then lingered over wine and cheese, talking about everything. The plans for Emily's Promise, dreams for the future of the ranch, for the training program, and with each passing minute, I felt more secure, more certain that we'd left our troubles behind in Colorado.

“I've been thinking,” Wilder said as I took a sip of his brandy, because I didn’t want one of my own. “About us. About what comes next.”

My heart stuttered. “What about it?”

“You know this isn’t just a fling, right?” His eyes were serious, intense. “And you know how much I like you. And while it started as one thing, it’s ended up as something else. Something incredible. Something that I want us to build on.” He took a deep breath. “I know it feels fast.”

“Itdoesn't feel fast,” I interrupted softly. “I mean we did spend three months just being friends with sexual favors thrown in.”

His smile was radiant. “Yeah, true.” He held his glass up for me to take another sip. “You feel like building something? Becoming exclusive, boyfriend and girlfriend, or whatever that shit it is they say on that crappy reality show you watch?”

My body felt like the sun was lighting me up from inside. My chest expanded with the amount of happiness that he’d given me. Not just his words but everything. His acts of service, his touches, his respect.

“I’d love for us to build on this,” I whispered. “To see where this goes. You make me happy, Wild. Happy and safe. You respect me like no other man ever has. I know you’ll never try to dim my light just to feel bigger.”

“Shit, Brownie, you have no idea.” His tongue flicked out to wet his plump bottom lip sending a message to my body. “I don’t want to just give you wings; I want you to fly my gorgeous girl.”

Later, as we walked back to our suite, his arm around my waist, I felt safer and happier than I had in weeks. The nightmare was over. Glenn was gone and we were free to build the life we wanted, hopefully together. Maybe it felt too good to last—I’d learned not to trust perfect moments, as they had a way of shattering when you held them too tight. But when I looked at Wilder, eyes and smile bright and tranquil, I knew I had to risk the breaking to really live inside the beautiful.

Chapter 46

Crazy Little Thing Called Love – Queen

Wilder

The moment I parked the truck outside the main house, the door flung open and the whole damn family appeared. Bertie led the way barreling down the porch steps wearing her new cowboy boots and a full denim ensemble.

“Open up Uncle Wilder, let me see him,” she called as she strode toward us.

“Okay, okay, give me a minute.”

I chuckled as she snapped her fingers at Dorcas, her puppy. “Sit Dorcas, I’ve got business to attend to.”

Nash, with Billy on his shoulders, rolled his eyes. “She’s taking this being foreman at the kid’s camp a little too seriously,” he muttered as he drew close. “Good trip?”

Tally appeared around the hood of my truck looking more relaxed than I’d ever seen her. It seemed two days of orgasms and spa treatments were good for my girl. Her green eyes sparkled like the finest cut emeralds, her hair shone with the deep auburn luster of fall, and she walked with the confidence of a catwalk model, and I made a promise to make sure she got a break like that at least once a year.

“Hey Tally,” Lily said, smiling. “You look incredible.”

Tally blushed, dropping her gaze to her cowboy boots. “I think it was just what I needed.”

“Cowboy, you need to take notes from your little brother,” Cassidy added, nudging Gunner.
