“I don’t hate myself,” he admitted, as he moved Corbin’s arm so he was in his embrace.
Corbin held him, his chin on Alex’s shoulder.
“Is that good or bad?” he asked. “I mean, some people have odd kinks.”
Alex grinned.
“It’s good. That was good. No, that was amazing.”
Corbin kissed him on the shoulder.
“I aim to please.”
Yeah, Alex could tell. Someone was a very giving lover in bed, and for that, he was grateful.
“Tell me about Will,” he finally said. “You told me some things, but I want to know more.”
Corbin didn’t mind.
“He was a very kind person. That’s the sexiest thing for me,” he admitted. “Yesterday, when you let the homeless woman hug you, and cling to you, I fell in love with that gentleness. For me, Will had the things I admired most. That’s why I loved him.”
Alex heard it.
“Past tense?” he asked.
Corbin’s erection had slipped from Alex’s ass, and the man turned to face him. He pulled comforter over them, to keep them warm.
Corbin considered what he’d said.
“I don’t think it’ll ever be forgotten,” he admitted. “Will made me who I am today. I found great joy in being married. I loved coming home and having sushi with him, and watching a movie. I enjoyed hearing about his day, or date nights at the movies. I’ll always cherish that. There’s room for the memories and you in my heart.”
Alex touched his cheek, and it was scruffy from five o’clock shadow.
“I don’t want you to forget about him. Ever. I’m glad that you had him. I wish I could meet him and thank him,” he admitted. “Because he deserves to be remembered. If you loved him, he mattered.”
Corbin kissed Alex.
When he broke it, he was honest.
“I can’t forget my journey,” he admitted. “But I can share it with you. Will is who made me the man I am. Before him, I wasn’t always astute, or aware. I learned to be. I’m part him, and he’s part me,” he admitted.
Alex was good with that.
“You said you were going to start a family with him,” he began.
And Corbin smiled a little.
“Yeah, that had always been the plan until I lost him. I put those hopes and dreams away. Do you want a family?” he asked him.
Alex sighed.
“It’s all I’ve ever wanted. I just want to know that I have people who love me. When you grow up unloved, unwanted, and hated as much as I did, you always feel lost.”
When Corbin’s phone rang, interrupting them, he knew who it was going to be.
Oh, he knew that tone.
“That’s Alice,” he admitted. “She has the absolute worst timing in the whole world. I wouldn’t be shocked if she has my dick LoJacked and is outside this very hotel.”
